We are TRULY lucky. And luck is the only explanation. Everything has gone soo smoothly since NOA2.

We did email the consulate for a expedited interview as I'm going into the hospital for a c section on Jan 16th to have our son, Ryan- we knew it would be a loooong shot to get him here before then, but it never hurts to try, right?

Nick called this morning and found out his interview date was Jan 30th - then he got an email shortly after saying disregard the appointment letter with your interview date of Jan 30 - you've been granted an expedited interview for Jan 20th.

We did add the news to our timeline but just couldn't bring ourselves to post about it. Felt like we'd be gloating - even though we truly wouldn't be... we both just feel so gutted for the rest that haven't even received NOA2 yet - or are stuck in AP.

Sincere thanks for your congratulations!!! :star::star:

Self edit here: Nick couldn't contain himself  he posted a note about our fortune on the July filers forum.

Oh, Shannon, I am soooo happy for you, both for getting the interview so soon but even more so for almost having your little one with you. It would have been even better if Nick could be there for and with you but such is life... :( Hope everything goes well.

Don't feel guilty just because you've been lucky with the NOA2 and the interview... you deserve it and after all, our time will come when it comes. It might not be as soon as we’d like but… It is annoying and frustrating to wait, but wait we'll have to. And you certainly wouldn't be gloating. Personally, I find it encouraging to hear that something went smoothly for somebody. There are far too many stories on this site with people encountering difficulties and delays during visa process.

Where on earth will you find time and energy to plan the wedding so soon after the c-section? Wow, you truly must be an amazing woman. :)

Take care and all the best.

T.

Everyone loves freebies lol and yeah I'm only 40min from London.

I got grief at the last fair I went to.

Her: OMG you haven't sorted your invitations out?? But you've less than a year to go!! OMG OMG

Me: Er yeah, dunno when I'm actually getting married yet

Her: OMG!!! (practically faints)

She would have been horrified that we are not sending invitations at all. Everybody who will be officially invited has been put on standby and will receive an email with time and date, with any luck about 10 days before the wedding. :)

Well ladies I thought I would take the time to introduce myself! I am Andrea (beneficiary) and we just filed the K-1.

Hi Andrea! What do you think of VJ so far? Nick and I are addicted  Awesome people here!

I can completely sympathize with you re: planning without a date. Nick and I always hoped for March 17th as that was the first day we met in person... so it would be our anniversary. HOPEFULLY (fingers legs and all appendages crossed!) we'll make it. Right now we're just waiting for our interview date.

It is so hard to plan - especially when you have ppl coming from over seas... we certainly didn't want to plan a date and then have to cancel it leaving ppl to pick up the tab for changing or canceling flights etc...

Did you see the flowers that were posted on this thread a few pages back? They are gorgeous! I love the idea of being able to keep my bouquet forever - and like you said, unless up for inspection: Who'll know?? I thought about spraying mine with some scent even.

Hey! VJ is awesome! So many great people on here! I am going to be addicted definitely! I just don't want to become obsessed or else I will give myself and ulcer! LOL! Planning without a date is so hard, especially for family and friends who want to know, but all i can tell them is when we get approved. When we do get approved that will be the hardest 3-4 months to not want to move right then and there! But we want time to get the invites out and get as many people as possible to come even though it will be a small wedding of about 80, and most of our guests will be from out of town, so that willmake it even harder. Most of them though will have an idea beforehand of what month we are thinking about setting the date for, of course all depends on the VISA!!

I saw those flowers on the thread, and they looked real! I can't decide whethere fresh or silk flowers would be the best option. When my fiance was visiting me we went shopping and looked at some silk bouquets and he didn't like the look of them, ( I just think they were poorly done) .

I'm not sure if you were talking about the flowers I posted but they are actually made from a really thin foam material. They are beautiful though and very well made. I didn't want to go with fresh flowers as I just wouldn't have the time to sort out what I want. If I was the one living in the US we would probably go for fresh and I probably would have spent a bit more on the dress etc.

As a father with just one 19 year old step daughter left, hoping and praying she meets a guy and elopes. Spending all the money on a dress only to be worn for a couple of hours really seems like a waste, something a woman wouldn't wear the next day trying to find bargains at Wal-Mart. And all those flowers and fancy stuff that end up in the trashcan soon afterwards.

Course you get plenty of gifts, but how many clock radios and toasters does a couple need to move into their one room studio apartment? Seems more reasonable to spend 25 bucks on a gallon of paint, a gallon of paint is 25 bucks now? Or even a bed to sleep in.

Yeah, I wanted a large reception, so my relatives and friends could meet my new bride and step daughter, was a waste in a way, couldn only spend a couple of minutes with each guest, but I already own a paid off large home, have a bed, a toaster, and a clock radio. But did have an ulterior motive, wanted a big fat wedding photo album to impress the USCIS with, it worked.

Feel the most important thing, is finding the right person, with consideration of the day after when those bills start rolling in.

Hence why my dress is going to be made for about £100 and designed so I can wear it afterwards and my flowers are fake so I can keep them afterwards. We are also compilling a gift list so we don't get 2 toasters, 10 vases etc. With Tom being overseas and having very few items for the home we are going to need all the basics when we move into our own house. Our wedding is being kept to a very very tight budget as we are paying for the whole thing ourselves and will need the money we have saved to furnish our house with the larger items and pay all the USCIS fees.

Well, my dress plains have changed again. Seen this one in Monsoon, a store here in the UK. It costs about the same to have the one I wanted made. Am going to have a look at it next weekend.

It is a beautiful dress. I managed to see it yesterday and try it on. It's very cream in colour, which isn't what I wanted and it didn't fit great. So it's back to the drawing board.

Ha, chatting about gravity in another post, exactly what holds that dress up?

For us, the USCIS wasn't nearly as bad as acquiring the foreign documents they wanted, many had typographical errors, and the Venezuelan and Colombian court systems cream you to make those small errors they made in their records, plus getting full physical custody for my wife's daughter, she didn't want to leave her behind and I don't blame her. Then, they all had to be translated into English by a certified translator, that also costs a couple of bucks. Wife felt guilty about all this, but kept on telling her, she is worth it. She feels obligated to pay it all back and working her can off, that is against my will. We can have fun playing in the mud with sticks, that doesn't cost anything.

What a great thread, websites have been a bonus to get bits & pieces sorted.

I thought i'd been quite organised with getting everything sorted, now to realise i have a list as long as my arm of things still to do!

I had my dress made for a staggering £90, looks better than ones i tried on for £700...hope the pic comes out.

Boobs Nick.

Hmmmm, using boobs as an anti-gravity device, wonder if there has been any studies on this. Could try to apply for a federal grant to study boobs, would revolutionized air travel. Purely scientific, of course.

Now in the UK you could apply for a lottery grant for that kinda thing !!
