Has anyone ever used/know anyone who's used baby's breath in a bouquet? I love the look of it, but I hear it smells like pee :(.

Terri, I had baby's breath, daisies, and wheat in my bouquet. Since it was a medieval wedding I did wheat. I didn't notice the baby's breath smelling bad!

Baby's Breath is sweet smelling and a turn off to some. The filler that smells like pee i limonium...it looks like a micro sized statice.

Let me see if I can find a pick...it's wispy and grayish purple, also called sea lavander.

Used to go there for finishings and thread. Allways felt they could be a little over priced and limited on stock, but that's cos o knew and could go to the specialist stores. Haven't been for years as Avon nearest is london I think. I'm in kent but when I get a chance I will go.

Ooooh, thanks for all the helpful hints about baby's breath, ladies! I'm very glad to hear it doesn't smell like urine :). Do you have any pics of your bouquet jundp? It sounds absolutely gorgeous. And thanks for the pics, milo75. I'll have to look into them!

Have you guys thought about vows or readings yet? We're working on our vows, but have definitely decided to read "Every Day you Play" by Pablo Neruda. It really exemplifies the fever of love as well as the sad, distraught feelings of being apart. (Yeah, I'm really into poetry). Since we're eloping, we'll break it up into parts and read it to each other. It's one of my favorite poems!

Every day you play with the light of the universe.

Subtle visitor, you arrive in the flower and the water.

You are more than this white head that I hold tightly

as a cluster of fruit, every day, between my hands.

You are like nobody since I love you.

Let me spread you out among yellow garlands.

Who writes your name in letters of smoke among the stars of the south?

Oh, let me remember you as you were before you existed.

Suddenly the wind howls and bangs shut at my window.

The sky is a net crammed with shadowy fish.

Here, all the winds let go, sooner or later, all of them.

The rain takes off her clothes.

The birds go by fleeing.

The wind. The wind.

I can contend only against the power of men.

The storm whirls dark leaves

and turns loose all the boats that were moored last

night to the sky.

You are here. Oh, you do not run away.

You will answer me to the last cry.

Cling to me as though you were frightened.

Even so, at one time a strange shadow ran through your eyes.

Now, now too, you bring me honeysuckle,

and even your breasts smell of it.

While the sad wind goes slaughtering butterflies

I love you, and my happiness bites the plum of your mouth.

How you must have suffered getting accustomed to me.

my savage, solitary soul, my name that sends them all running.

So many times we have seen the morning star burn,

kissing our eyes,

and over our heads the grey light unwind in turning fans.

My words rained over you, stroking you.

A long time I have loved the sunned mother-of-pearl

of your body.

I go so far as to think you own the universe.

I will bring you happy flowers from the mountains,

bluebells,

dark hazels, and rustic baskets of kisses.

I want

to do with you what spring does with the cherry

trees.

Terri, here's the only up close pic I have on my laptop of my bouquet

Also, great poem! It's SO beautiful.

We had a friend read Neruda's "Sonnet XVII" after the welcome and before the question and ring ceremony. It was really lovely. We wrote our own ceremony and made little programs using the same paper with which we made our invitations. Since ours was bilingual, we included a German quote and then made sure we did a German toast the night of our Polterabend. Our intention is to eventually have a church wedding in his family's church in Germany, but until then, we wanted to incorporate some of his traditions too.

I just had a consultation tonight with a wedding planner and that girl is top notch. Probably the best in the city and can give me a dream wedding and I so want to work with her but you know how it is when you are trying to plan a wedding and you don't know the wedding date yet??? I'm gonna be her biggest challenge. ;) Right now everything is dependent on that noa2. I'll have a better timeline after we get it. Need your advice. Should I:

a) approach her after the NOA2 receipt and pick a wedding date x # of months in the future and try to book vendors immediately knowing that I could loose my deposits if I have to change the date later if things get delayed at the embassy (Whether or not I loose my deposits, it would be strong evidence for the interview with the paperwork from the wedding planning) or

b ) Wait until Sam gets the visa in his hand and then plan the wedding accordingly with a known definite date about 2 months later knowing that the preferred vendors I want may not be available but some might be on a Saturday? or

c) Have my wedding on a Friday night which is guaranteed to be available at most places as well as discounts available etc. with 2 months notice.

Decisions Decisions!
