Kind of nervous...I'm going through US customs in Calgary tomorrow and I'm kind of nervous. Haha, it's probably just because of all the horror stories I've heard. I have a letter from my employer, but they failed to mention when they expect me back. I asked them about it, but since it was christmas, they have been overcome with tasks so it was neglected. I do however, have my managers business card attached to the letter, as well as my schedule which proves that I am scheduled to work on January 3rd. I leave the US on January 1st.

I'm going to see my boyfriend, so if I'm asked, I'm just going to be honest.

But what do you guys think. :(

I always get nervous when I go through new entry points.

New stuff, you know. ._.

I went through Vancouver customs in July, and Edmonton in October. So hopefully, I'll be okay?

:S

I have done that a lot and you should be fine. It's not as bad as you think. They just need to see that you are work and will return to Canada. You are lucky you can come to the states. I can't go back to Canada with my husband because they want us to do immigration but we are going to try it back in the states again. But this time without an attorney.

So, even though my letter doesn't mention a return date, it should be fine because my employer's business card and the schedule is attached? As well, I've had the job since August 2007, and the letter mentions it which proves I didn't get a job just so I'd have an easier time getting through customs...just, I'm a really nervous person. I hate new things LOL

Don't remember seeing you post before, but what are your circumstances? You have a husband yet your profile says a K-1? What did you try before with an attorney? Let us know your situation, and maybe we can help you!

Welcome aboard in case I've missed you posting before.

Breathe. Most people make it in, and those that don't tend (from anecdotes) to be intending more open-ended trips, not ten-day-long Christmas visits with return flights. C. visited us over Christmas while the K-1 was in process and had no problems; this was in Edmonton.

We've been through Calgary a few times; they're a little slow, but friendly and efficient.

You should have no problems as you are just dating. If you are questioned about the reason for your visit just say holidays, visiting friends. If say you were engaged or married this would be more of an issue. Also, if at all possible, just try and avoid the old gray lady POE, she has a serious attitude problem and is a nightmare to deal with. She will try her best to send as many people to the office as possible. She may look like Mrs. Claus but she's more like a Dominatrix Madame than a Santa's wife.

If anything the POE Officer may give you a I-91 stamp (entry stamp) based on the duration of your trip. It will probably expire when your return flight is due if you're staying longer than a few weeks. Just make sure to hand the piece of paper to the airline when you enter back into Canada if you do get a I-91, or remember to remove it from your passport before doing any return visits to the US.

The flight got cancelled due to a ''massive'' snow storm in Las Vegas? I got a rebook for December 19th, but this time I have to go through Regina. Should the customs be pretty much the same there?

Also, I got through customs in Calgary, but I got asked a lot of question. A job came up in the questioning, but I answered truthfully. xD

Too bad about the flight cancellation! Yes, it should be the same in Regina.

Yeah, it was such a killer. I felt really let down. All the flights Vegas bound are completely booked up for the 18th and 19th. I'm lucky to have made it onto the 19th date.

Would it be a bad idea to mention that I already went through customs on Wednesday but then my flight got canceled? Or should I just start the process over fresh? I arrive in Vegas at 6pm on the 19th. Thank you guys so much for your support. ^ ^

I just have a slight anxiety...mainly about new things. :(

There's no need to mention it; it's not like it will help or hurt you. Just answer like you normally would: "visiting for the holidays." If they ask you more answer truthfully.

You'll be fine!

Well, I said visiting my boyfriend and his family for Christmas and new years. I was overly honest, I guess. And then I just got questioned on his nationality and what not. And if I had a job in Canada. I believe mentioning my boyfriend is going to get deployed in March, but there is no definite day. Maybe on Friday I will get lucky and they won't question me too badly. :)
