I know what you mean, when I was living in Dartmouth, drinking tap water was a GIANT no-no. Simply because, although we had the Atlantic Ocean, anything that went down the drain ended up in the harbor...and we didn't really have any major water treatment plant..so it was just a NO. DON'T DO IT.

Houston water is pretty good. I drink it from the tap all the time.

I'm sure Texas is fine, but Dartmouth is in Nova Scotia, Eastern Canada. The water down there is gross. >_> Kind of like when some friends and I spotted tourists swimming around in it. We all predicted that within the next couple of months that they would grow extra limbs.

Yes, I count myself lucky to have good tap water here. In San Angelo, Texas, the water comes out of the tap white and has so many minerals and it tastes salty. What's gross is the restaurants that make their coffee out of the stuff. You can tell instantly because the coffee has a salty taste. Ewwwwwwwww....

So I am sitting in bed and I start complaining to my husband about my stomach and tell him I need eno. He looks at me all confused and says: "Brian Eno?" and I say: "No... enoooo"

And he starts laughing and says: "Emo"

At this point he thinks I am just joking around and just starts repeating me. He has no idea I am in pain.

And finally I realize what I am saying and I say: "ALKA SELTZER!"

OK, so "eno" = "alka seltzer" what? I'm confused. Is this a Canadian word?

Morning everyone! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Anyone else notice that when you are anticipating something to happen it feels like it takes forever to happen?

Eno isn't alka seltzer, but it's a similar product - Eno does not contain asprin - alka seltzer does.

On another note, my Husband's monitor stopped working so he bought this new 22' inch monitor at Costco - and I got one too :)

oh la la. Thats a beaut.

I went to Bestbuy on the weekend and bought a 37" HDTV for our bedroom because it is ginormous and I can't see our tiny tv from bed. Unfortunately now I've made my husband have to go get an HDTV box for it!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

We went to Circuit City to look at tellys since they are going out of biz, but the sales weren't spectacular.... Didn't end up getting anything for now.

That really bothers me because everything should be hella cheap! There was a linens and things by us that was going out of business in the fall and they "went out of business" for almost 5 months! Every 4 weeks they would drop everything by 10%. I went three times and in the 5th month, there was still stuff in there that was only 25% off. What the hell!

Yeah, they scam - so it's not surprising when they go out of business!

My Husband was showing me some article about Circuit City - everyone was up in arms because they raised the prices before 'dropping' them. So raise the price of the TV by 25% say, then have it on sale by 10%.

I've heard of that before. It amazes me you know? There is no such thing as consumer friendly companies it seems. Nothing and no one is honest any more.

Ooooh, very pretty monitor.

Yeah a lot of the big box stores you have to be careful of. The reason they have sales is because they make HUGE margin on some things. Like if you goto best buy and get a cable for that new TV or whatever, did you know the markup on those cables is about 500% minimum? For example, an ethernet cable, 100ft, costs straight from most distributers about 7 bucks, Best Buy sells them for about 70. Thats why they can manage to take 50-100 bucks off the laptop, because they can make more than that off the accessories to go with it.

Yeah, that is interesting. Same with car dealerships, the majority of the money they make is all those 'add on' things they sell you when you purchase the vehicle.

One interesting thing, a lot of the stuff you see on costco.com comes with 'free shipping'. This monitor has shipping of $4.99. When my Husband got to the store he was pleasantly surprised to find the monitor was $20 less than the online price.
