My son has a girlfriend.

His first girlfriend. He wants me to bring him to target so he can buy her a valentines present. AWW!

They shared a bag of funyuns at lunch today and you know thats kind of a big deal in fourth grade.

Oh Sprailenes! As the mother of a 12 year old boy, let me say, boy are you ever in for it! lol It starts as funyuns, then it moves on to corn chips and pretzels. After that it's straight downhill and he won't want to leave his computer because there is a multi-hour IM session going on. Then you'll get the one I just got - he asked a girl to the Valentine's Day dance. Can't you just wait? I do have to admit that even though it makes me a little nervous sometimes, they're so cute at the different girlfriend stages.

Oh man! I know there is no turning back. Its bitter sweet. Just last month he still claimed to hate girls.

Ahh boys are funny... he has even been spending more time in his bathroom in the morning, and putting gel in his hair... too much gel actually.

Oh girl, I LOVE it. You are SO right. When my SO was visiting with his daughter and one of her friends (they're 19), they asked if my son would like to go to the mall with them. He asked me to pick out what shirt he should wear, which was funny enough as it's hard to get him out of a t-shirt, but when he came out in it, he reeked, and I mean REEKED of cologne. It was so hard not to laugh my a$$ off at him. Then again, they're still boys. There are weeks I don't think he would shower, brush his teeth or change his underwear if I didn't make him!

Its sooo funny you say that because I put a thing of axe spray in his stocking this year just because I thought it would be cute, and maaan he didn't know how to stop putting it on!

I actually had to finally confiscate it and throw it away because it was axe overload. I can't believe he's growing up. Aww I can't wait until he starts going to dances... I know I'm gonna be the lame mom with the camera!

Oh no! The dreaded Axe. My mom put it in his stocking for Christmas too. She also happens to be the one that bought him the cologne he soaked himself in that one day. He thought Grandma was pretty cool for getting both of them, but I asked him if maybe she just thinks he smells bad. I'm an evil mom who just likes to mess with the boy sometimes.

I know I'm going to sound tremendously old when I say this, but aren't you amazed at how much faster they grow up now? My son was in the spelling bee the other day and as I sat and watched, I took inventory of the girls. Holy mother! Between the way girls are built and the things they wear, I don't know how any of the boys pay attention in school at all. #######. I sound like my mother 30 years ago.

and yes I agree about the kinds of clothes girls wear these days... I mistake 12 year olds for 16 year olds much of the time and I can't believe their mothers let them dress that way!

Gack! So I went ahead and set a reminder on my TV for this (thanks for the reminder, Jill) but I couldn't remember what time it was for. At 9:05 I asked my husband "Did a reminder for Homeland Security come on yet?" Apparently stupid Comcast clears all the reminders if you turn your TV off. Please tell me it wasn't any good last night.

My wife is taking the day off. Fed employees can come in 3 hrs late, so why bother, take it off. Ice walks around our place are pure ice. I could put my skates on and go for a workout. It is interesting watching people trying to scrap off their vehicles, as many do not have a simple scrapper. Saw a lady yesterday shoveling snow with a small dirt pan!!

Hey speaking of work outs I finally did a full 30 minutes on my elliptical last night. I had to work myself up to that, that machine is HARD! But man it feels amazing once you get off.
