OMG!!!

So I get a friend request from this girl, who I don't remember but who looks familiar. So she sends me a message saying: "Wow I haven't seen you since you left North Bay!"

And I just kind of say: "Ya" because I don't recognize her name at all.

Then she sends me another message this morning going: "You don't remember me do you?"

And I say: "Sorry no..."

And she says: "Thats okay we used to be BFF's and my name used to be John Benoir"

I have been looking for him for a while now and now wonder I couldn't find him!!

I am in shock a bit because I'll never see John again. But she looks awesome.. better than most of my female friends I must say.

Haha. That happened to me too. There was one guy where I used to work.... his name was Eric. Anyway, he left and two years later he called my friend (who was also a co-worker) while I was sitting in her office and told her that he'd had a sex change operation and he was now called Erica. We were like..... :o

This seems to be a more common experience than I thought. Years ago I dated a guy named Gary. It wasn't for very long because he was very 'clingy' and wanting to get married and I certainly didn't think we were anywhere near that stage in our relationship. I eventually broke it off, he met another girl and got married very quickly. A few years later I ran into her and she told me the marriage had lasted for about a year - the time it took for Gary to realize he really wasn't male but female - and so they divorced. He later underwent the full sex change operation. You know, I'm really not surprised - but I have never seen him/her again and have no idea what she looks like now. Yes, I'm curious:-).

I played volleyball in a co-ed league years ago (was a teenager) with my brother and several of his co-workers. One was named Michael. He was a huge man, about 6'5" with hands and feet the size of watermelons. My brother never told me, but a few years later, Michael had a sex change and became Michelle. When I was in my mid 20s, I was playing in a women's softball league and showed up for the first practice of the season. We had a new player, so I went to introduce myself only to have the person I was planning to introduce myself to call me by my name before we had even spoken. It was pretty obvious that I had no clue who she was, so she went on and on about how we used to play volleyball together years ago and she had been a co-worker of my brother. I kept thinking that surely I would have remembered a woman that freakin' big and it bugged me through the whole practice. When I got home, I called my brother to inquire about a huge woman we used to play volleyball with only to have him tell me that it was Michael. I nearly had a heart attack. Not once did Michelle even hint at the fact that she used to be Michael. How in the heck would I have EVER figured that one out?! Geez. We played together for three years after that, but I never let on that I finally found out. The truly funny part was that several of the other teams complained about her being allowed to play as she had the hitting power of a man. Frankly, she wasn't very good anyway, so it wasn't a big deal. Unfortunately she was killed a few years ago. What a way to go - she was parachuting in Ohio and her chute didn't open.

the part I don't like when people find out I am from Canada is when they say "oh it must be cold up there"

I got asked that the other day and I said "no, the weather is kind of like this" (it was raining at the time)

We were at a wine tasting a couple of weeks ago and there was one snooty lady there going on about how cold Canada was and I mentioned that not all of Canada is cold and she says "It is so! I've been there!" (She didn't know I was Canadian. LOL)

 - was she 12 with that kind of response?!

I know! That's why I laughed at her. Because she was standing there being all snooty about where they'd been and how much they knew and I was thinking "You have no idea how stupid you sound right now."

I had a similar thing happen on Saturday in reverse. Normally it's us Americans being crazy about generalizing/stereo-typing things/people from other countries. But I just got home from being at the falls all weekend with my SO and met a lovely (note the sarcasm) cab driver who totally out of the blue started trashing Americans for everything from the food we eat to the way we drive to the way we speak, to the way we vote, etc. Normally I'm someone who speaks my mind, but this guy was pretty old, obviously a fruitcake and not worth my breath, so I didn't say anything. At first I thought my SO was going to have a stroke from trying not to laugh. Then when he realized I wasn't going to say anything, he actually felt kind of bad for me and started sticking up for Americans. We both laughed about it the rest of the weekend because we couldn't figure out where it came from. He must have had some bad passengers before us that were American or something.

Nope, he had no clue I was American. I never spoke one word for him to hear my horrible midwestern accent. At one point when Wayne started to stick up for Americans, the guy asked HIM if he was American. I was dying not to bust out laughing and scream "I'M an American you dufus!", but it was much more fun just sitting there listening. BTW, the falls are really cool in the winter. Really damn cold up there though... then again, it IS Canada so like the topic was stating earlier, you have eskimos, polar bears and igloos so it HAS to be cold. :P

Krikit, remember when you said you like to cross at the Peace Bridge? I can officially say that I've seen it now. :) Too cold to walk across it though.

So I watched the movie 'The Women' today. Hmm, it is not a bad movie, quite watchable - then again it is not a great movie.

that is what I felt too..

and it wasn't till about 15 minutes into the movie that I realized that there were no men whatsoever in the movie.. not even the people in the backgrounds etc.....

*crosses "The Women" off to-do list*

I wouldn't cross it off your list.. it was entertaining just not a movie I would ever watch again....

Well all I know is summer in Ottawa is wonderful, but the winters are torture! I don't think the great summer makes up for the winter. I'm just not a cold weather/snow person.

Well, based on that you would totally be qualified to speak on the entire country of Canada.

Yeah, the difference in weather between Texas and Canada are like being on a different planet. LOL.

There are (obviously) all types of yoga.

I would never say any type of yoga is for sissies.

It is the most challenging thing to do to your body....that is good for it.

Today I have a life coaching session with someone who thinks I can do this too.
