Don't forget the bug spray! lol

Which brings up another great point about what's great about the US.. DEET :) tee hee.. we can get higher concentrations of DEET in the US than you can over the counter in Canada and far cheaper too :)

Not that I love bathing in DEET, but when you are up against ticks, I'm not playing games.

Does anyone have any experience with Lasik eye surgery? I'm really considering it, as I'm so tired of my really poor eyesight which gets worse by the year. I am so blind and cannot function without my contacts and/or glasses. Even getting up in the night to use the washroom, I must have my glasses on. Anyway, I'm seriously considering Lasik. Just wondering if anyone has had it? I've heard tons of positives, a few negatives too.

Did you see the keeping up with the kardashians episode where Kim got it??

All I know is that she came out with funky goggles... hey if you get it and get funky goggles can I have them when you're finished? Just askin. :P

I had a boss once that had it.. he had complications and was on eye drops for a long time, but HE said he would do it again, hands down. He had to travel to NS for his appointments even, and even with the travel and the complications he said it was the best thing he'd ever done.

But perhaps someone could answer my question.. won't the degradation of the eye continue even after the lasic? As in, as your eye ages, it won't be permanent but continue to age and the near sightedness (or whatever you have) will return?

My FIL got it but then a few years after that, he needed to wear glasses again.

Part of me wants it but my glasses are an integral part of "my look".

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

 I did see that episode! The price has really gone down lately, me thinks I can afford it! Just so long as I don't go blind

My Husband was going to have this, however he wasn't a candidate for lasik - only the other one, whatever it is - which he decided was not a good option because you can only have it done once, so when your eyesight does change - you are back to glasses.

As for your eye changes, yes, when your vision changes you would have to have lasik again.

1 of the best places in the world to get LASIK is in Colombia! World leaders in it and much much cheaper!!!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Oh, you just reminded me! We I watched some movie last night which was amazingly entertaining. Only I can't remember what it was called! It was about some guy who had to deliver a suitcase to some small town in the middle of nowhere. I missed the first 5 minutes and I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it, but I'm still trying to figure out what happened.

I had 2 friends who had the Lasik surgery. One had an incredible experience with it. It was quick, painless, and afterward, his vision was actually better than 20/20. The other friend had complications and had to have 2 subsequent surgeries and a series of non-surgical treatments for 9 months after. Same doctor. But both did say they would do it again. I couldn't even touch my eyeball to put contacts in....... there is NO WAY someone is going to use a laser on my eye

Keeping up with the kardashians?

That vapid group of tards need to be labotomized. I've seen one episode and I still can't believe thats on the air. But then again, I don't see how Denise Richards has a show either

I've considered LASIK as well...my eyes are really bad! If I dont have my contacts, things that are 1 ft infront of me or less is blurry. However, I hate wearing glasses. I have small frame glasses and I hate that I can only see whats in the lens in front of me, and the surrounding is blurry. I get tunnel vision quite easily and refuse to wear huge glasses. So this means I wear my contacts for up to 16 hours a day. First thing I put in, last thing I take out. I'm sure this is damaging my eyes even more!

Is anybody willing to share their script? I'm at -5.5 in both eyes for my contacts, and I believe my glasses are even worse! (at my last check-up, 3 years ago anyways. Its probably worse now)

mine is -5.50 in one, -4.25 in the other. The one that is -4.25 also has a -1.25 degree of astigmatism. I always wear contacts or glasses for the same reason, 1 ft in front of me I cant see a thing. I was considering Lasik, but I actually do like my glasses and putting in contacts isnt too horrible for me, plus I'm worried about things like people say about losing their night vision or that kind of thing. *shrugs* maybe some day I will be brave enough lol
