Person could be trafficking drugs, etc etc.. Not all terrorists blow up/crash planes,lol And if they suspect drugs, they would be doing a lot more than just exposing ur buttocks! Rubber glove time.

Flamesy..maybe its beacuse you are a nurse but I'm assuming most of us are uncomfortable with bearing it all. And to me, I wouldn't go onto a beach bottomless so yes, baring the but is bearing it all. When I was in the Domincan, many girls had no top on. It's hard not to look when you've got 10 girls slathering and lathering their breasts with sun tan lotion in front of you and your husband. I'm pretty sure some of them wanted people to notice.

Any ways, besides my point...

I realize they need to check...but did they exhaust ALL options before asking her to take down her pants? I just think that should be the LAST of the options. Also, they didn't pull her aside because she was suspected of having drugs ON her, for example, she was pulled because her name drew a flag.

If you suspect someone of drug smuggling then fair enough but come on now...resorting to the butt check? It's like Dave Chapelle's joke about police pulling over Black folk in DC and asking them to spread 'em and feeling their genitals to identify them..(its a long story...)

This happened to a friend of mine. He had the same name and birthday as a convicted criminal that had tried to cross the border into the US at three different POEs the previous week. The border patrol folks insisted on looking for a tattoo. Lucky for him, they only needed to see his chest.

There has to be some balance betwwen respect and safety here. Did they really have to handcuff her? Couldn't they have just not let her cross until her identity was confirmed? They should assume that she's telling the truth until they've sorted things out. If she had been treated with a little more respect this wouldn't have been so tramatic for her.

I think for me the shame & embarrassment comes from not being prepared for such a violation. In the case of my medical I was not anticipating stripping down and having a Dr. look me over from head to toe.. that just wasn't "normal" for any of the protocol for US Medicals that I've read about..

Same thing applies for this case.. you go across the border and you certainly don't expect to bear all for the guards.. it's all in the anticipation I think.

I agree with you. As it is, I get so nervous and anxious crossing any border, I don't know why I just do. I have nothing to hide and am always truthful, I just feel intimidated. I think if that happened to me, I would truly be tramatized and would never want to leave Canada again in fear of what would happen when I returned.

If the doctor for my medical would have asked me to strip, I would have said you can go F yourself!

Volunteering this morning for an area Parks and Recreation Department summer camp . . . a friend and I are doing 'old fashioned life skills' so today we are making butter and braiding rag rugs. It is fun to get dressed up again in my period clothing - I really miss my re-enacting days. So, see you all later.

I did this, as some of you know, for 6 months back in 2006. I REALLY loved it and now I realize I want to get back into this type of work. It's so fun.

I had to strip for my K-1 medical. No tattoos, though, so I didn't have to go through that.

Ummmmm...... okay, I'm feeling kind of embarrassed telling people this, but......

Well, because I know there are people who are in less fortunate circumstances than I, and I know it bothers some to hear about things like that. It's a standing joke with my friends that I am "Daddy's little girl". There's a lot more history that I won't go into.... mainly because no matter how I try to put it, there are those who will believe that I must be stuck up because I see and explain things from the manner in which I grew up. I guess the funniest way of explaining it would be from the time, years and years ago, when my friends and I did a murder mystery dinner.... and they assigned me the role of Winter Newley.... the spoiled little rich girl. (It was a blast, btw. lol) So, from then on, my friends have called me "Winter" as in "Okay, Winter" whenever I mention going on another trip or something like that. With them, it's just good-natured fun. With those who don't know me, it's a jab.
