I'm watching Ice Road Truckers on History while cleaning. Man - this show is GOLD! I don't know how I missed the previous season.

When my parent's were first dating (before they had us), my dad used to haul stuff up North to the mines on the ice roads. And my mom hated being alone at their trailer (yes, I said trailer). So she would go on the road with him. And he taught her how to drive the big-rig. My mom said it was the high point in their relationship.

Thanks for the coffee! Hot and Sunny here in Georgia as well. After all the rainy weekends we were finally able to work in the garden this morning - and I am done in. The garden plots had to be weeded, hoed, and the ground prepared for planting, then the easy part was actually planting the vegetables. We have usually got all of this done in April not the last day of May!

Anyway, I keep reminding myself this is when we planted back in Canada and we had no problems getting produce. I've skipped the spring crops and we focused on the summer and autumn crops - eggplants, zucchini, yellow squash, 2 different types of peppers, watermelon, and 4 different types of tomatoes ( 7 plants all together), plus dill, basil and thyme. I already have 2 other peppers planted a few weeks ago and we chose tomatoe plants at a variety of ages so some will already be well on their way to producing.

It feels good to get it done but now it will mean interminable rounds of weeding and watering. Big Sigh - I just remember how GOOD everything tastes fresh from the garden. Now to take a shower and cool down!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I made my own strawberry freezer jam yesterday  I can't wait to try it

next time though I need to find a pectin that uses less sugar... I could only find one kind at the store I went to.. 4 cups of sugar to 2 cups of strawberries is a lot of sugar :P I also want to find the pectin that you don't have to cook...

my only concern is that I didn't use containers specifically for freezer jam.. I bought some of those Ziploc containers that you can use in the freezer that just have a snap on lid not the twist on lid that the freezer jam containers have..

they had strawberries on sale and I still have a bunch left.. might try a recipe I found for fruit buttermilk cake.. it looked good..

That's awesome Em. I bet they were touched :star:

I guess they define all natural very broadly. Like corn grows from the ground, so its all natural. And forget the part where its processed and refined 100x to make it extra sweet.

What the heck is HFCS? I don't ever read ingredients

high fructose corn syrup, lots of debate on that here. It's in tons of food products in the US

The Hills season finale is on in an hour and a half. Any chance that Heidi pukes in Spencer's face at the alter?

Funny story... so last weekend we were in Ocean City and waiting outside this pancake house for breakfast and these girls walked out all looking like they walked out of the hills and my husband looked at them and sang: "FEEL THE RAIN ON YOUR SKIN!"

omg I bust out laughing so hard!

I asked them where LC was.

They didn't like that. :(

Donne moi une poptart!
