The strategy of golf has nothing to do with whether or not you carry your own clubs or drive a cart, which many people do. Regardless I find golf boring, but to say that it's not a sport because some people don't carry their clubs or because some people drive a cart.

If you're going to use that as an argument then why can't auto racers do change their own tires and do everything else?

The thing I like about nascar is how its the last 5 minutes or so that really matter. I couldn't sit there for hours and watch cars go around in a circle. But with nascar, you turn it on just before it ends and you get the point. You get just enough information to make small talk at the water cooler the next day.

The only reason people watch racing (NASCAR or Formula 1) is they're hoping to see car crashes.

Not Forumula 1. I watch Formula 1 races as much as I possibly can. I even paid an exhobitant amount of money to drive a Formula 3000 car and take a weekend course learning about it. My argument was that car racing is far more physically demanding than golf, hence it is closer to being a sport than golf. I used to play golf, and I can say that It is not a sport, unless you carry your own clubs and don't get a cart.

To decide whether an activity is a sport or not just from that aspect is hilarious imo.

Well luckily for the rest of the world only you and a few others don't consider it a "sport" :P

What is so odd about judging whether something is a sport based on physical exhertion? Seems quite logical to me.

to be good at golf takes a lot of talent and practice...

not just anybody can pick up a club and play like Tiger Woods

I'm sorry, I don't consider something that a non athelete could do while drunk a sport. :P

well that being said a person could drive the Nascar drunk.. he just wouldn't be any good ..lol

Actually, he'd be dead.

I don't doubt that car racing, golf or bowling take a tremendous amount of skill and talent to do. My issue is that it requires no athletic ability to do them, or even be good at it.

so I went to see a therapist a few times at the beginning of last year.... since then she only sent me one bill... I did send her a portion of the money I owed but I didn't pay off the bill till a month or so ago when we got our tax money..

anyways today I get a letter in the mail from the therapist... in the letter it states that everything is paid off and she thanked me for remembering this bill and then she said she was touched by my honesty, sincerity and kindness, and that she is including a a check for 30 dollars as a discount and says that she wants me to have a nice dinner out with my husband... :)

I should be thanking her for not putting the bill into collections...

ok so I have a small problem...

I back ordered something for hubby from Amazon a few weeks ago and it finally became available and they are shipping it today and it is due to arrive on Friday... the catch is I work on Friday but the hubby will be home... I kind of wanted this thing to be a surprise.... and wanted to be there when he saw it... I could tell him not to open the box but I am not sure if it says on the box what it is...

i guess I could just tell him now what I got...

Generally when we have ordered something from Amazon it comes in unidentified brown boxes with the packaged item inside. Unless you are ordering through another supplier who has listed the item with Amazon I expect that it won't be listed on the outside what is inside the box.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

yeah I did order straight through Amazon.. yeah now that I think back I don't think they put what is inside on the outside of the box..

I did order something through a private seller on Amazon a few months ago and the Fedex guy who delivered it told me what was inside,it was written on the outside of the box... but this time it is being shipped though USPS

Wow that was nice.

Well my little puppy just had her spay surgury done today I was really surprised that they dont keep them over night here. I feel so bad for her so so sore and has the saddest look ever. I'm not sure how she managed it but she did get up on my bed to sleep. Poor girl its such a high jump too. She's only been able to get up into bed about a month now so I know it was hard to make that jump fresh from the vets. I have 10 days worth of anti biotics for her too wich is new never had a vet give me them before with my other pets but i guess its something this one does. Anyways i'm just kinda sad for making my poor baby sore for a few days.

I can't believe I missed a conversation about NASCAR drivers! My fiance and I met on a nascar fan site, we are racing nuts. Racing is very physical, but not in a conventional sense. Bill's dad races a local touring series and he's... not the smallest most fit man in the room, I will give you that  but he has big upper body strength! I would not want to fight that man, that's for sure! Driving a well handling race car on a flat track is one thing, driving a non cooperative race car on 50 degrees of banking is another thing! Sorry, I had to defend the honor of race car drivers :innocent:

I don't know about golf but its hard!! I can't hit the ball well at all. I went out and played 9 holes with a friend who was trying to teach me, and it was seriously hard to move my arms the next day. Maybe its because I hit the ground with the club really hard every time I went to swing

I think both sports require a certain talent that not everyone has. Its like singing I suppose... We can all do it, but most of us can't do it very well.

I always enter conversations AFTER they happen!
