Yeah it's hard to make housing decisions indeed. Plus, you walk to work now, so you are looking a bit further out of the area, so then you think, well if I have to take a bus anyway maybe we should look at such and such an area too and get more space but a longer commute for the same money

bingo.. that's it exactly.. we apparently can't afford the area we live in (all grad students and professors) so we might as well look at a wide radius.. we live in a weird town though.. one street is beautiful, the next street is pure getto. makes it hard to search for apts.

Yeah it's interesting here. In Calgary there are certain areas that are not as nice as others, they are well known and that's that. (although it wouldn't bother me really to live in any of them, we aren't talking major crime here).

Here, it is one street to the next, as you mention - I'll see a house listed and do a google map search, to look at the street and it's like omg - it's spooky looking - yet it's in a small area that in general seems to be quite nice.

Good morning Canada.

The USGA qualifier is being held at my work today. There are 108 golfers (pros and amateurs) all trying for 7 spots in the US open. Talk about insane odds.

I was wondering why they were all walking and apparently in professional golf you have to walk the course. That sucks for them.

Anyhoo that's my excitement for the day.

Good Morning, fellow Canadians!

This morning, I take my long procrastinated driver's test (hopefully only the written part, it depends how well they respond to donut bribery.) Everyone and their dog at my work knows I'm taking it, so if I don't pass, I'm going to be laughed at for weeks to come

Good luck to OBX who is probably inside the lobby at Montreal right now waiting for interview time!

Well, if they didn't, there would be absolutely no athletic aspect of the game. It would be the athletic equivalent of bowling

That is true. It's just humid out there and looks like it's about to rain.

Who was that golfer I forget it his name, but a few years ago he was fighting for the right to use a cart because he had a bad leg, or one leg or something like that.

I am not a golfer so I have no idea. I have just recently been learning how to play. I feel like such a dork in golf shoes.

I believe his name was Casey Martin.

I really don't consider golf a sport mainly for one point. They don't even cary their own clubs. The only real athletic aspect is that they walk the course. Whoop dee doo.... my mother probably walks further than they do on a daily basis. I think if someone played wii sports and walked around the block each hole, they would probably get an even better workout.

I consider it a sport, there's more to it than walking, there is a lot of skill and strategy involved. I think sport is more than just movement.

What I don't consider a sport is nascar. Sorry to all the rednecks nascar fans. :P

I consider golf to be a sport as well - and I don't play - have never played.

I guess it's as much a sport as archery or bowling or curling orrrrr the multitude of other sports that don't require as much physical activity as say football or rugby or hockey etc.

Sport is about skill as well, as Sprailenes mentioned.

If there is no athletic aspect to it, it is NOT a sport, but a competition none the less. I don't consider bowling, golf, or racing to be sports.

On a side note, racing is by far a lot more physically demanding than golf. Seriously, there was a professional golfer who smoked while playing. Come on now.

I really don't like golfing at all. Went a few times with my Dad, he's a major golfer. It bores me to tears, the best part was driving the cart! This past weekend I went to the driving range with Glen, just to watch that was boring too.
