Well, I'm back from the hairdresser's. Yay. Picked up a bucket of balls from the golf club on my way by so my husband could go to the driving range when he gets home this evening. The pro shop is usually closed by the time he walks in the door.

BUT!!! I just remembered that I had told someone in Canada I would pick them up a Harley-Davidson t-shirt..... so now I've got a 45 minute drive to Daytona! Actually, I did see a large Harley shop in Sanford which is only a half hour away, so I'm going to stop in there first. Aaargh. Why do I do these things to myself? :bonk:

I taught my first class last night. No, I'm not a teacher or professor, but I'm volunteering at the local community center to instruct people on how to use computers.

It was great! I felt like everyone learned something and they really seemed to like me and my instruction. Even better, the volunteer coordinator was highly impressed. That means I'm likely to get a very good reference out of this and in the meantime, actually get some people to use and understand computers (to some degree, anyway).

Many of these individuals are older and have little-to-no knowledge of computers at all. For instance, there was one woman in my class that didn't know what a mouse was and had to be shown how to use it. Maybe that seems incredible nowadays, but apparently not impossible.

So anyway... I teach "Introduction to Computers" (a general overview course), "Introduction to the Internet" and "Introduction to Digital Imaging."

That's awesome, DPX. Good for you!

Heya!!

I just wanted to say :) I haven't been around lately and just wanted to say that I hope everybodys well!!!

Christina

Hey Christina! I've been wondering how you've been. Thanks for checking in. :)

I love this website, it's so cheery! And I just learned something new - did you know that there are tabs on the side of your aluminum foil thingy that you push in so the foil roll doesn't fall out? I didn't know that

Yeah, it's handy. I always just throw away the box anyway and just tear it.

I'm sure you're all wondering how I got to Daytona and back so fast. :hehe: I have decided to go tomorrow instead. In fact, I have put every single thing I have to do before I leave off until tomorrow. I like living life on the edge.

Well, the little black and white kitten who was Lucy's baby last summer is a mother now herself. I 'thought' she was pregnant and then last Thursday thought she might be showing signs of labour, but she is so tiny and didn't have a big belly or anything like that. She showed up as regular on Friday and seemed unchanged so I honestly began to wonder if she was having a false pregnancy. Today when I am going by the side yard I heard this loud mewing. I tracked it down to the Indian Laurel bush and there behind on the ground was a several days old solid black healthy looking single kitten! Mother came running at that stage but wouldn't approach until I backed away at which stage she darted into the bushes.

It is really kind of exposed to the weather there so I went to the store and bought one of those inexpensive styrofoam coolers and some baby blankets at the good will and put them by where the kitten was. Momma Star wasn't happy with that and then moved the kitten to another bush out front where they are now, even though it is threatening rain. It is under the pear tree, under the bushes so perhaps a little bit better coverage than at the side of the house but not much. Every time she leaves the kitten it starts to squall, but she is letting me pet her still and eating. I am hoping this kitten makes it. I have moved the 'kitten box' to the front under the table and hopefully she will discover that it is a good place to keep babies. I hope so - now I get to worry about the well-being of this little kitten too. I don't think Joe is going to be pleased with this development!

I also took the former tomcat in for his distemper booster today and to be dewormed. As the vet says, he is healthy enough - he just doesn't look it! I am hoping he will now start to put on weight and get back into condition so I can find him a home too.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

It probably fits! That's how I ended up with two of my cats - I was the 'cat lady' who walked her cat on a leash so neighbourhood kids brought the three orphaned kittens (their dog killed the mother) to me when their parents said just to let them die. Still have Lion and Bear and Tiger Lily lives with a friend in Minnesota. Maybe I should see if Mags wants another cat - she's got me beat for numbers! Oh Mags? Yoo Hoo!
