Hello everyone. Just thought I'd introduce myself to the Canadian thread. My husband is from Iran, but he lives in Canada, so we will be dealing with the Montreal consulate for his visa. I fly there as frequently as possible to visit him. :-) I don't like the snow, but it is a beautiful country. :star: I'd be interested to hear from anyone who might have a spouse in Canada who is a citizen of another country and what their experiences have been.

We do have some members here who are non-Canadians who worked through the process in Canada and I'm sure will be happy to give you the benefit of their experience. In what part of Canada does your husband live?

I love snow!!! After living in Victoria BC for many years and getting days and days of drizzle, bring on the snow! 1cm of snow here in the DC area, brings everything to a close,lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied,that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

LOL, then you should see Houston. It's a rare day when it snows, so when it does, OMG it's a major issue. :-) They don't even sell ice scrapers for your car windshield here!

My mom arrived on Friday. :)

And with her she brought some Timmy's. The Boston Creams were checked in her luggage and didn't fare very well, however the timbits were A-OK. Eat your heart out charles. :P

Tai Chi! I think that will be incredibly interesting Carla - I did buy a CD once to learn Tai Chi - but it was uninspiring - i'm interested to hear how your class goes.
