Oh blah, that's too bad MrsCat! Hope they get her a connection there today!

So how are you finding Hawaii, do you like it? Are you settling in, does it feel like home yet?

We are definitely settling in, and Chris and I have finally hit our stride the past few weeks. Doesn't quite feel like home here, not sure that it ever will. Alaska felt much more like home. Not sure if its the weather or what. But all the same, its Hawaii and there are so many fantastic things to keep us busy and enjoying life here. Even when things are bad - they're really not bad at all.

One of Chris' coworkers has been exceptionally kind to us and made sure we feel welcome here and a sense of family through the holidays. Which has been super nice. They've included us in all their plans with their family and let us take care of the grandkids once and a while. Which Chris and I love. So that's been great. Steve (the coworker) came here in the 70's for work, fell in love with a local girl and has lived here ever since. So he knows what its like to be far away from home.

But, now that we've cleaned the house top to bottom, its starting to feel like our place. Put a little sweat equity into anyplace I guess, and it gives a sense of pride. I found grease and slime in places that I'd never have thought to clean.

thanks for asking trailmix. :)

Talk about extremes: Alaska and Hawai'i.

Fascinating.

I have visited both and hung with the locals.

Both places are wonder-full.

Community oriented. Great spirit!

Good Morning Canada! A Happy New Year to everyone as well. I've been absent most of the holidays as Gene's been off, and we had my in-laws here for a few days. Everyone is gone now, and we're just taking everything down and putting things away from Christmas. Phew, what a chore! Everything looks so bare now!

Here's a lovely cup of coffee to start the day. I'll be by later to view some threads and post. Enjoy your day!

After I arrive in Vancouver tonight, I am headed to Timmy Ho's for a cup of decaf coffee (too late of regular.) I have to admit that I like it best, my daughter who works at Starbuck's has kept me in coffee the whole time I have been away, but I am looking forward to real Canadian cup of coffee.

I LOVE dessert for breakfast! Thank you Trailmix!

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
