Good morning all!

Glad you got that second quote Carla and also glad you are feeling better today Em!

I am just sitting here this morning pondering the whole house thing. We did see one house we like, it is in Orlando - but right on the outskirts of Orlando 'proper', ie drive 5 mins and you are back in Seminole County or in Winter Springs.

I feel indecisive about it though and I don't like that and won't make a decision until I am feeling more comfortable about it. Sooo that means I need to do my own homework today and that starts by reading the offer paperwork the Realtor sent me, then doing comparisons for the area etc etc. Sounds like work.

They guy that I hired worked for the State Dept, something to do with housing, lol He was excellent! My brother in law used hi as well, and when my bro in law had told he was in Iraq, the guy didnt even want to take any $$$$ from him! Super nice guy!! If one is in the DC area, would be happy to pass along his email!! He is a handyman kind of guy! Got lot of responses from Craigslsit, many were apprentice plumbers (so they said) some stated they had paperwork to prove their status (like I know what a valid paper looks like, lol)

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Today my boss approved for me to go on vacation the first week of May to the Dominican Republic! Ahh some great news for a change!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Sweet! :star:

Thanks everyone! I am so happy, I forgot to say something which I wanted to originally. The thing that makes me so happy is that Glen could have put a ring on his CC like a year ago. But he is so financially responsible, which I love. He never charges anything, and if he does it's paid off ASAP. His attitude is if you can't pay cash for it, don't buy it. Obviously not meaning like a car or house but other purchases that are deemed "not necessary" like clothes, jewels, etc. So he saved up for awhile for the special ring, and paid cash for it. That's what I love about him and makes me proud, is his financial smartness. I'd prefer it be paid off than put on plastic LOL. I never cared about the "ring" because I was with the man I love and that's all that matters. But now, I'm super happy to have it

That is awesome. He's a keeper. I think we need an approval stamp. Here we go:

Krikit You Suze Ormaned Glen. I LOVE IT!

BTW Jill - I love that quality too. Its a good one. I'll second the approved.

Good morning everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. A plumber told us we had an enormous job on our hands, left us with an estimate of $500.00 and had Gene so ticked off on Friday! We called another guy, and he's coming by to fix it today for $150.00, and we bought the parts.

Some people hunh? Do they really think that people don't check around with prices?! I guess some don't.

I'm heading off back to the land of palm trees and coconuts in a few minutes.

When I checked in this morning, I managed to snag a seat in the 6th row behind first class (meaning more leg room). And no one is booked to sit next to me. Oh please let this be the case when I get on the plane.

On the flight over, I was booked in the exit row near the aisle. Meaning tons of leg room. Just before we leave, this guys walks up and asks is we can trade seats, since I'm sitting next to his wife in the other aisle and their coming home from their honeymoon. Wifey-poo is looking all doe-eyed at me. I'd have to be the tin-man to say no. So I trade seats. I didn't even ask where he was sitting.

Window seat, next to the mom and nanny with twin 8 week old babies and a two-year old from hell. Though the family was nice and babies were cute, it was not a relaxing flight.

That was nice of you, I'd do the same! I'm a sucker. The worst flight I ever had was right next to the loo.... it was stinky and everytime someone would go in I'd cringe.... so nasty.... have a safe and good flight!

I'm one of those people that, if I fly with someone, books seats with her tickets. That way I KNOW I get the seats I want, next to the person I am travelling with. Especially coming back from their honeymoon you would think one of them might have thought to make sure they were sitting together

Sounds like a lot of reading. I always trust my feelings, so I think that's a good thing that you not make a decision until you're 100% positive. What else can you tell us about the place?!

So I skim read the 10 pages - that was slightly interesting and yet boring. This is the house, around 1500 sq ft, about 2.5 blocks from a main street - which is mostly commercial (ie motels, restaurants etc etc) umm, needs a bit of work, flooring, paint, clean up, nothing too bad. 3 bdrms, 1.5 baths.

nice - I like how they tile the whole 9 yards in warmer climates. no garage? Although looks like you get an extra room out of it
