I really don't see how my outlook on this matter is, in any way, insulting. If nothing else, I consider myself standing up for the rights of Canadians. Why should the UK have any input in Canadian affairs? Canada is its own nation, with its own laws and people. Canadians are not "British subjects" but citizens of their own country. They answer to Canada and Canada only. Maybe some traditions from the UK are popular, but tradition and governing power are two very different things.

I think your Americanism is clouding the issue personally.. the diff between the US & Canada as far as I can see is that us Canadians don't see the NEED to protect ourselves from the British.. they are not the chains of tyrany to us, it's our history our past and our future to remember where we've come from and the many many good things we've inherited from our shared past. We didn't throw the British out, or get all hot & bothered, we simply worked out a peaceful solution that is workable to all.. and many of us now celebrate the country & the cities & pasts that our ancestors come from.. and many of us still have relations back in the mother land.

And if you really still think the queen has no power.. ask yourself why the Prime Minister had to go to the Gov. General to ASK for permission to dissolve Parliament.. a stay in proceedings earlier in the year prior to the budget coming down when the "coalition" was threatening to bring down the gov. the Gov. General's leadership there was CRITICAL in the political process for 2008-2009.. That if anything proved once again that the Queenie (Bless her).. DOES in fact still have power and ability to shape the face of our Country

Don't you find Lasenza and Vic Sec have the same stuff pretty much? I know they're owned by the same CO.

Hi there spirit!

Thanks for all the happy thoughts about house hunting you guys :)

You know it's funny, before we arrived here I thought - oooo lots of shopping to be done in the U.S. - in fact Mike and I took a trip to Montana once just for shopping. So I have these particular undies that I like - I can find nothing similar here - so yes - I ordered underwear from Canada - it arrived the other day

I find Kohl's to be great in the underwear department.

 Reminds me of the time the airport security opened up my laptop bag and found it full of rice. As I stood there waiting to be released the officer yells to another officer for everyone to hear "It's rice, Bob. Just rice." as he zipped it up and shook his head.:lol:

It was Uncle Ben's Natural Select rice. I love the "parmesan" and the "garlic and butter" flavours. They're fabulous. But you can't get them here. :(

oooo I love those too

I've always wondered what would happen if the Gov. General said no when asked for permission to form or dissolve Parliamnet.....not that it would ever happen.

There was a real fear for some that she would during this last round.. she had every right to.. The PM had to go and plead his case.. I don't buy that she's a puppet for a second. I think she really could have changed the outcome considerably had she allowed the budget to hit the floor at the earlier date.

So I have these particular undies that I like - I can find nothing similar here - so yes - I ordered underwear from Canada - it arrived the other day

u think they really called the Queen?? She would be like S. Harper who?? lol

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
