It IS a beautiful morning out there! We had 9 inches total yesterday in white stuff.. I'll enjoy the winter wonderland walk to work today!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day to day!!

Oh and my paper baby got delivered to Vermont yesterday (removal of conditions!!)

Good morning all! Yes, all good here in Florida, don't know how I missed this thread yesterday, guess I got sidetracked looking at houses.

In the - stay in Florida for a while/move back to Canada discussion we have quite regularly - I feel I need to explore the possibilities of living in Florida before we pack up the upack and head north

So I have been looking at houses, found a couple of small houses online yesterday, in this email this realtor sends me, so I write and ask him to find out more about them please and he sends me a note back (from his blackberry) "I will look as soon as I can get back to a computer at a final walk through the we r on our way to closing"

Every time I contact him he tells me how busy he is closing houses. Well, i'm not selling a house, so that's not an issue for me.

Still haven't heard from him.

Good luck on the house hunting trailmix! That realtor sounds like a goof. Things can't be that bad in Florida if he's so busy with closings!

Can't remember if I mentioned it in before but last week Gene and I went to see Slumdog Millionaire. Please go see if if you haven't, it's a wonderful movie! As well, last week my neighbour and I went to the casino near here for lunch and a few hours of slots. I go about twice a year for a little bit for fun. I put in $20.00 and won a small jackpot of $1055.00! My treat with the winnings was my new MP3 player, I bought Gene a new GPS unit, and the rest is going to my dental work.

good morning canada. carla, we got enough snow here on saturday to make me think i was in canada.

ty for the coffee :luv:

So close, yet so far charles! We didn't get one flake. Keep it, thank you. ;)

something around 3-4 inches here, difficult to tell as it drifted. some places at the house are 1" deep, others 2' deep.

Thanks Carla and yes, he is definately a goof

I am sure that his 'busy-ness' is to prod us to get buying - oh oh I am selling all the houses in Florida and there will be nothing left for you to buy! uh huh.

Big congratulations on your casino win :)

I can honestly say that Slumdog was one of the best movies I have ever seen. The storyline was so completely creative and I love it!

Carla! I'm so jealous! The most I've ever won was about 300 bucks playing roulette. We used to play once and awhile but now not at all. Good for you!

T-Mix-Good luck with the hunt. I hope you find what you are looking for.

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

So... my wife and I just got back from visiting her parents. I like my in-laws, but I'm still unsure how to act around them. I'm getting better at gauging their responses, but I'm still on a moment-to-moment basis. My wife thinks I've been getting along with them better (not that we ever didn't get along), especially since her dad and I share a lot of common interests.

One thing my father-in-law knows is cameras. He was a professional photographer for years and was actually in-charge of a photography company for all of western Canada at one point. He's retired now, but I'm interested in cameras and photography (it goes along with my graphic design background). He was showing my wife and I his old camera collection. By old I mean the sort of cameras that fold out like an accordion. That's pretty damn cool.

He also had genuine Nazi documents and photos. These weren't his per se, but my mother-in-law's father worked for Allied Intelligence during World War II. He apparently "procured" these items before heading home. ;)

As I'm a huge fan of military history, I found these documents and photos immensely interesting. I also know German, so I was able to translate most of it, although some words I had never seen before. I would've liked to examine those documents more, but my father-in-law put them away and told me I could look them over at a later date, when my wife and I were visiting them on a longer basis.

The one person in my wife's family I don't really get along with well is my brother-in-law (he's my wife's sister's husband) and it almost seems like he tries too hard to be intellectual. Don't get me wrong -- I'm up for an intelligent debate or discussion and I've gone to college (or university as Canadians might say), but there's a difference between speaking intelligently and knowing the topic versus thrusting what you know into any topic at any given moment.

I suppose one problem is that he's a flaming liberal. I'm more liberal on social matters, but on other topics -- such as military, foreign relations and economics -- I'm far more conservative. So we'll sometimes debate and he gets very annoying very quickly. He won't even entertain someone else's viewpoint. I don't expect him to immediately agree with me (or even at all), but it'd be nice if he could see someone else's point-of-view.

This is probably the best way to describe that, that I've ever seen.:lol:

thanks.

Except they wanted me to create the ad in word.

Who creates an ad in word?? I am going to take all the stuff home and do it up on my mac. :D

One more thing she gave me a list of all the stuff she wants the ad to say.

Its too much mumble jumble... I am going to do two ads, my way and the way with all this cr@p. People barely look at ads, let alone ones with TONS of print.

They need to let me run with this... I took advertising in college, I know what I am doing... or so I like to tell myself. ;)
