Does anyone have a site they use in particular for the cheapest airline tickets? Or does anyone have any ideas on the best time to buy your tickets? Days of the week? Best times of the day? I used cheapoair.com last time. Thanks

I always use priceline.com for going to Mexico because you can bid on your tickets and get a much lower than advertised price. I'm not sure if you can use it for all locations throughout the world, but it's worth a shot.

I'm not flying to the same part of the world as you... but what I do is do the flexible search on orbitz.com and see which 'combos' are cheaper... it gives you a grid of what days of the week/dates are cheaper...and then I check those same dates on a couple of other sites like kayak and sidestep, I'm sure there are a couple others I have used too, but by then they are only a couple dollars cheaper.

Hope that makes sense. Happy Travels!

Rates change on Fridays.

Check them all out - if you see a major carrier on the discount sites - go to their site and chances are it will be cheaper - if not call them and they will match it or beat it. It has always worked for me!

My husband uses Priceline.com usually and for this Christmas-NY break he used cheapoair.com . Kayak.com sometimes also give good price combo and they get their rates from orbitz. Myself I've never got tickets to go abroad (unless Southeast Asian travel) online, usually get my travel tickets from local agents, but will try use cheapoair and the lot when i go to US. Good luck shopping around!!!

why don't u try around January 15,2009 and just check the airlines website that u want to fly on. Right now its very expensive this time of year hope this helps

Thanks! I plan on trying to travel to nigeria in march...I was worried about waiting to long to get my ticket...so even though Im searching for march tickets the price is still going to be high because of the holiday season?

www.travelocity.com worked well for me, I got unbeatable flight prices travelling from South Africa to the US. It's also handy to use the ticket tracker facility they offer. Just add your approximate dates and they monitor the various airlines for the best prices and notify you by mail.

Good luck!

I checked rates to Denmark yesterday and Northwest has unbelievable rates for all over the place right now, directly from the Northwest Airlines website. Lower than Priceline, Hotwire or Expedia and I've used all of them for super cheap tickets before. The key is to be patient and diligent, check constantly - it was almost like a second job for me...

You could try sidestep.com.

I am always watching flights to Espana, we try and go about 2 times a year. My best success is usually by using sidestep and kayak together and watching the trends (they set it up almost like a stock market graph). I also usually buy on Wednesday afternoons after 12, I was told a while ago that's the witching hour and for a long time it's held true. Lately, I'm hearing from our corporate headquarters to check with our travel agents as well that they at times have been able to get us better pricing than going directly through the net, but I haven't substantiated it with international travel as of yet. If you don't have young ones yet I will also recommend you to look at major east coast cities ie. Nyc, Boston, Dc etc. as a jumping off site and then search your best price destination from there... good luck, were off to Spain on NY's eve....

All done for the next 10 years...

Now more then ever..."and Miles to go before I sleep and miles to go before I sleep"
