It is very regional, but everyone should know the major ones like pop or coke. Now, if you asked for a fizzy, i'd have to guess a bit at that one.

I'm in generic "coke" country. I call it soda. I know what pop is -- my mom's from Ohio, and I've heard it used enough to have picked it up otherwise. But I don't pronounce "pop" correctly.

I think anyone who lives here in the states would have to be living under a rock not to know pop=soda=soft drink.

Back when worked in grocery retail, the same kind of thing happened with grocery carts. Some people call them baskets, buggies (mostly Canadian).

hey not all the south is coke.. this area has many local drinks... so depending which area of charlotte you're from, you'll ask for diff things.. a sun drop, a cheerwine, a pepsi, or a mountain dew, or mr pibb!

Nah, not quite that extreme. I just don't pull the corners of my mouth back quite as far as my cousins do.
