I have a question...I know the requirements for the K1 is that you only have to met your SO once within the past 2 years...I know it also looks better the more visits you have to see your SO... Im filing the end of December and am trying to go back in March to see my SO again, but if something happens and not able to go financially then (before interview comes) wanting to know if that lowers our chances of being approved...I was just wondering has anyone been approved just going once to see their SO on the K1?...

K1 Journey:

Filed: 2009-01-12... USCIS Approved: 2009-06-05... 1st Interview/Admin Review: 2009-09-09...2nd Interview/Approved: 2010-01-27

AOS Journey:

Filed: 2010-05-20... Interview: 2010-11-30... Approved: 2010-12-03... Card Rcvd: 2010-12-18...

Whew! Done!.... Well, for the next two years anyway...

Once should be enough. Hopefully some others will come along and give you their stories.

Are you talking about at the petitioning stage or at the interview?

For the petitioning stage all that is required is that you have met once in the past 2 years.

For proof of relationship it is a huge plus to have multiple trips not just before petitioning but also between petitioning and interviewing. It helps prove bonafides of the relationship and seeing that you are going through Lagos you will need all the ammo you can get.

In our case, there was the trip when we met (I just happened to meet him, ie, I was not there because of him) and then another visit after we sent in the petition.

Hello.

As long as you have meet "at least once" - BEFORE FILING - the I-129F and less than 2 years before filing is suffucent.

BUT: Be sure to keep good records of boarding pass, flight itenary, hotel reciepts, photos of the two of you together... and you with family if possible... every reciept you can provide to prove you met within 2 years of filing you should not have a problem. Of course you must provide proof of ongoing relationship also, so keep phone records, WesternUnion / MoneyGram / mail / postcards / ...

Good Luck

God Bless

Robby

BIG PLUS to visit more than one time. COs most always ask how many times you met. Just saw where a poster here said one of the reasons for denial on the 221g was having only met once.

Since you are from a hi fraud country it would be a GOOD idea to make as many trips as you can.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

Lagos is like no other US Consulate in the world when it comes to evaluating bona fides. Filing with only one visit may be fine but I think chances of success at a visa interview with only one visit are slim and none. Ask about this in the appropriate regional forum too.

Hi. I just received my approval on dec 8th. I had been to see my fiance several times before filing. However, I believe as someone posted before. You only need to have met once within the last 2 years. What does help alot is proof of ongoing relationship. IE: photos, copies of phonecalls, letters, etc. I believe you are going to file at end of Dec., and planning on visiting her again in March. For the initial filing 1 meeting should be enough. As I will probably be after March for the visa to be processed. When you revisit with SO take plenty of pics, save plane tickets and boarding passes. Save as many receipts as and anything paper that may help prove visits and time shared together with your SO. Good luck.

Since Nigeria is a high fraud country, the more trips the better!

Sort of. The categories of fraud level are, low, medium, high and Lagos.

My SO and I met twice. Once before filing and once between filing and the interview. At the interview they barely looked at proof of our relationship, and we have now been on AP for over one year. Bottom line, no one knows what will hurt or help a case-you can get so many different answers from different cases. Do what seems best to you..............

Im filing the end of December and am trying to go back in March to see my SO again, but if something happens and not able to go financially then (before interview comes) wanting to know if that lowers our chances of being approved...I was just wondering has anyone been approved just going once to see their SO on the K1?...

And THAT is amazing in itself when you look at places like HCMC and Guangzhou that seem to turn down visas on a daily basis...
