the USCIS doesn't require the I-134, but you will have to bring the original I-134 to the interview

But my lawyer told me the original I-134 was sent to USCIS with my petition. The USCIS sent it to the NVC and the NVC has sent it to the US Consular in HCM city. I do not need the original. Any comments?

LOL Dalegg! Now thats funny!

Seriously tho nhatrang, you should re-submit the I-134 at the interview. Yes, your *ahem* lawyer sent it in with your petition, but it will be asked for again, guaranteed, at the interview. And do you really want to NOT provide something that is asked for, and make yourselves a target for a definite blue slip?? Besides, you will need to show the originals of your photos, phone bills, and other evidences, so why not include a freshly notarized NEW version along with it?

Nhatrang,

Fill out another I-134, go to the bank and get a free notarization, put it in with the other evidence for the interview and then rest in the comfort of having a backup present for the interview - just in case your lawyer is wrong.

Nha Trang, it is better to have more than less. I do not know about other Consulates but dealing with the particular Consulate in Saigon is not a walk in the park. In my humble opion, the people at this Consulate are very prejudice about K1 and K3 applicants. If you give them any chance to make your life miserable, they will certainly do it. What your lawyer said is one thing but you must be well-informed as well. Even though I did have a lawyer for our case, I still researched intensively and kept him in check. I went over everything forms he preapared and although he is very diligent with our case, he still made countless mistakes on the forms. Please remember one thing that you only have one case to worry about, YOUR CASE. Your lawyer, other the other hand, has many cases. His attention to details will not be as much as you would think. Good luck.

I used to be indecisive. Now I am just not sure ...

Why worry about a photocopy of the I-134? You only need one, the one you give your fiance for the interview. Maybe keep a notarized photocopy for yourself incase the original gets lost or something. So did you give the original to your lawyer and he sent it to the USCIS??? Uh... you could have personally mailed it to your fiance and its that simple. I agree, dont trust lawyers in getting the job done. I know for a fact that the ordinary people here on VJ are the best source of advice anybody could go to in our situation. Who better knows that the people who care the most about this process. They know a lot! And what answers they dont know, they soon will find out and happily help out the next guy along. Let me take this opportunity to say that you guys are all great

Can someone tell me if the photocopy of the I-134 is Okayed for the Ho Chi Minh city US consular or I need to have the original? My lawyer told me that the original was already sent to the USCIS. The photocopy is Okayed.
