well, after another very long week at work for hubby he is really thinking about quiting again... I can't keep up :P....

He has been working over 12 hours every day this week a few days he worked 14 to 15 hours and today it looks like it is going to be around 17 hours :o ... that is like two shifts.... he just called me and told me not to wait up because he won't be home till around 5am... :(.. I guess there system went down for awhile and a few people didn't show up to work today....

What really sucks at his job is that when hubby's shift (he starts at 12pm) is done early they have to stay and help the other shift that starts at 4pm so they can get out in 8 or 9 hours but when the 4pm shift is done early or on time they don't have to stay and help hubby's shift

If he quits I have to give up my road trip to Canada :(.... I was really looking forward to spending two weeks with him, not having to worry about work etc... and of course I was looking forward to seeing my grandparents and my mom and dad and sibs....

Hubby says I can go visit them anytime I want but that would most likely mean that I would have to go without him... :( I can't go a day without seeing him how would I last a few days  It took us so long to finally be together, I don't want to leave him behind even though I know I would be back....

On the other hand if he quits and gets a better job with hopefully a day shift, I would be able to see more of him during the week and I could get my errands done during the week and we would have the weekends to do whatever we wanted :)

I know my hubby can't take much more of this schedule, of course the money is great but he is going to fall apart soon

Well, I guess tomorrow is a write off... hubby will be sleeping all day most likely, the poor guy (L)

Really, this can't go on. As you say, the money is great but it might start to have an ill effect on your hubster. Not only the long hours but also the wat they treat him there.

I hope he'll be able to find something else.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

It sounds truly awful!!!

Paul and I met on the Bazaar on the 14th January (he joined my progressive rock forum that day)

July 3rd he flew to England to meet me

We fell in love while he drove all over the place coz I cannot read maps (we were supposed to go to Ingleton - but touched Darlington 4 times, Pierce Bridge 6 times, Scotch Corner twice and Bernard Castle twice and we never did make it to Ingleton)

It has been so long and so much has happened in between...

Arrived in Houston on October 29th 2006

Married 17th November 2006

Lost my father 8th January 2007 (all dates are a blur after this)

well, hubby after having a long talk with his dad last weekend, has decided to stay with his job unless he finds a better job that pays more or about the same... he wants a job where he will get payed the same or more but work less hours.... his dad thinks it is a good idea to keep this job because of the money ..... I do understand the money part because hubby wants to buy a house by the beginning of next year (which he wants to flip with his dad).... but I don't think this is good physically or mentally for my hubby....

father-in-law and hubby's brothers are all workacholics... they seem to value money over family time  ... I really don't want my hubby turing into one  I need and want more time with my hubby, I think for the last year I probably have spent 80 to 90 percent of the time by myself.... I just don't know what to do......

When I talked to him earlier he got his paycheck today and it shows that he work over 40 hours overtime in 2 weeks :o and he just works Monday to Friday so on average he works 4 hours overtime a day

That's brutal honey!

He can't keep this up. His body will be screaming from the sleep deprivation as well as the mental state of being on the job for so long. Plus he is unhappy with work, which makes it worse. No job is worth that, imho.

The trip may be enough of a break from work for him to see how tough the job is on him, let alone you. I hope he can last that long.

Heading Home!

Yeah, that's really too much. Quit, get a temporary job (even if it pays much less), go on vacation, get a similar temporary job until can find a real one. Life and health (mental and physical!) are more important than money.

MarilynP,

So explain again why "hubby leaves his gun on all the time" if it has become an issue that makes him look bad? If I understood your first post correctly, he can go from looking bad to looking outstanding with one simple change to his routine?

Yodrak

ok, I think I have this figured out now.... I was just looking at his verbal warning write up and it says that for the month of January is total picks were 5, 422 and the total time picking orders was 195.98 and when you divide those two and you get about 27 orders an hour....

well like I mentioned hubby leaves his gun on all the time as he is picking orders but that whole time isn't spent just picking orders... some of the time is spent staging etc.... and the way he has been doing it has been fine up till now... he said they have always rounded up the hours or something....

a bunch of guys at his work are talking about leaving.... even guys who have been there 4 or 5 years... they say this is the worst it has ever been.... the long hours and treating their workers like #######

I was disposed of from my last job in much the same way. I sure understand. its all about how much money they can make, they dont give a rat's ### about employees, they just want to satisfy the greedy shareholders.

the thing is that David pulls more then the minimum amount that he is supposed to

the other workers also get out earlier when David is working.... when David has taken a day off here and there, the workers that are there usually have to work a few hours more

I'm sorry about all this stress!! If your husband is gonna be a workaholic then it's better to stop that possible habit now before it gets too bad because it just isn't good for your marriage or family! I really hope you can find a good resolution to this situation quickly!! (F)

he kept the gun on all the time because .....

1) it is pain to turn it on and off all the time, I guess..... some orders are very small....

2) his supervisors said they would divide the amount of pulled orders by 6.5 hours to even it out (other people on hubby's shift did this same thing) the big boss divided it by the amount of hours they actually worked....

3) if he did turn it on and off it looks like he pulls 70 orders an hour (not sure what is wrong with that though) but hubby says he actually pulls about 44 orders an hour.... which is way over the minimum

hubby is turning the gun on and off now though.....

yeah, I am hoping the trip will give him some relaxing time and that after our trip he might consider changing jobs....

he did find a couple of good jobs on the CalJobs site last night that pay about what he is making now

hubby looks up to his dad a lot, and is always asking him for advice etc... I know hubby just wants to provide for us and get us out of this hole we are living in now (it ain't that bad, but you know ) but we will see how things go in the future...

Thanks for all the kind words everybody
