Hubby came home from work yesterday all upset and said they pulled the final straw..... He said he got a verbal write up at work.... They told him that his production is too low.... They are supposed to be pulling at least 35 orders an hour and according to their computer he was only pulling 27..... Hubby figured it out and he actually pulls about 44 orders an hour, but the higher ups are only looking at the computers and they see it differently.. hubby was trying to explain it all to me but I didn't quite get it....

I guess they have this gun thing and they are supposed to get out of an order when they are done with it but hubby says when he does that it looks like he pulls 70 orders an hour or something so hubby just leaves the gun on ..... and he has had no issues with this before and he said he has been doing this for about a year already

So long story short... hubby says that he wants to find a new job sooner rather then later... We had discussed him finding a new job but we wanted to go on vacation first which we had planned to do in April but hubby says he doesn't think he can last that long at work..... and if he gets a new job it will be over a year or so before we can go on vacation again  ...

We had planned on taking a road trip up to Canada... I was really looking forward to the trip and to being able to see my family who I haven't seen in almost a year... Hubby says I can still go and visit my family.... I would fly of course but I didn't want to go without him...:( ... it took us so long to finally be together that the thought of leaving him even if it were only for a few days makes me sad :(

I don't know what to do... I don't want my hubby to be unhappy and have to work these 14 hour days and I would really like it if he got a new job with possibly a day shift...

Hubby says they told him that if his production doesn't increase.... he will get a formal written write up and if it still doesn't improve he will be fired.... Everyone was shocked that he got a write up, they were all saying that he is one of the best workers there ... I guess a couple of guys got a write up too.... David says only two guys on his shift didn't and they are the worst workers there :huh: He said that the guy who issued the write ups was just looking at his computer and has no idea what goes on in the actual warehouse

sorry for my ramblings, I just needed to get this off my chest.....

I was disposed of from my last job in much the same way. I sure understand. its all about how much money they can make, they dont give a rat's ### about employees, they just want to satisfy the greedy shareholders.

ok, I think I have this figured out now.... I was just looking at his verbal warning write up and it says that for the month of January is total picks were 5, 422 and the total time picking orders was 195.98 and when you divide those two and you get about 27 orders an hour....

well like I mentioned hubby leaves his gun on all the time as he is picking orders but that whole time isn't spent just picking orders... some of the time is spent staging etc.... and the way he has been doing it has been fine up till now... he said they have always rounded up the hours or something....

a bunch of guys at his work are talking about leaving.... even guys who have been there 4 or 5 years... they say this is the worst it has ever been.... the long hours and treating their workers like #######

the thing is that David pulls more then the minimum amount that he is supposed to

the other workers also get out earlier when David is working.... when David has taken a day off here and there, the workers that are there usually have to work a few hours more

Yup, it's definitely sounding like it's time to move on.

Depending on how things go financially, David may be able to tell any future employer in advance that he has booked vacation and needs the time off. I've done it when switching jobs and they're usually okay about it with the advanced warning.

they are going to lose a good worker too .....

not sure if hubby would want to do that though, tell them he has vacation planned, that is.... there wouldn't be a lot of advanced warning anyways because he would probably start a new job in March, lets say and our vacation is in April... not sure if it would look good to just start a job and take a vacation right aways....

Yeah, I know...I was just sharing because sometimes if the feel is good, it's always an option to give it a try. If it doesn't feel right, then probably best not to do it.

yeah, I guess it wouldn't hurt to feel it out .... I know my hubby though, he doesn't like to rock the boat

i guess we should have planned our vacation for March or something... but I wanted to take advantage of the EAster holiday, hubby doesn't get extra days off for it but my dad does and it would have meant seeing him an extra day or two

Hey just a suggestion. When he does find a new job, would it be possible to take your trip between the time he leaves this job and starts the new one? Might take a week or two between and problem solved. ???

Just a thought,

Baileyj

yeah, we had thought about that but the jobs for the work he does come and go pretty quickly..... he thought of just quitting and then going on our vacation and then looking for a job when we get back but that is a little too risky

If I was him I'd pull the gun every time, slow down and just do the amount per shift or hour that he's supposed to do. F##k THEM! They'll really see the production go down, his numbers will be up, and they won't understand why!

 revenge is sweet sometimes.

Oh yeah, and then I'd get another job. ;)
