I did have one. But, 3 weeks before our wedding, we went out drinking.........

As we walked home from the pub, I heard a little ting. Let's just say we never found the ring again. We went back several times, but it was gone. Luckily, we had chosen something beyond modest and it wasn't expensive. Like Jen was saying, unique. I nearly died. However, it just further proved to me that rings have nothing to do with it. Our white gold bands are all we need. We put those on at the same time and that means the world to me.

Just re-reading this thread and am amused by your answer to me in the other thread about the funniest thing that ever happened when drunk... "I'm sorry" was what you said.

I'm sorry you lost your ring after you were drinking....

I'm sorry you felt the need to be nasty and rub someone's loss in their face! Wow, didn't think you could be mean spirited!

Not mean spirited, Lisa... and not rubbing in the loss... I'm sure that was very traumatic. The other thread about 'drinking' is making light of the consequences of having had too much alcohol.... this is another such consequence that I did not find amusing. People forget about this sort of thing when they share stories of the 'cute' stuff that happens....

Jen, you have every right to your own opinion, but it's not your job to teach us how to live.

And yeah, rubbing this in is completely mean spirited and totally uncalled for...sorry I don't agree with you, but that's the way I see it.

He just bought my one for my birthday...he wanted to send it in the mail but the post office in Korea will not allow the sending of gold, silver or gemstones.... I will have to wait to get it in person.. In Korea, the custom is that the wedding ring is the more expensive ring, the engagement ring is not so expensive.

We've both got Brazilian ones, so little gold bands on our right hand ring fingers. They were like 25 dollars each, super cheap, and purchased at this store down the street from us called something like "SUPER DISCOUNT JEWELRY WAREHOUSE" or something. The receipt had little cupids on it. Tres tacky... I love it.

actually...my hubby did propose to me on new years eve....when the fireworks went off. I loved it, when he asked me if I would marry him and gave me the engagement ring. Wedding rings, we bought later. Maybe Im conservative.... :innocent:

i have to laugh when my friends ask how he proposed. it's just so different when you're in a relationship across the ocean. we'd been talking about getting married, and who would live where...and then he was in the States at Thanksgiving time, and we were at a mall with a good sale. so...he put a ring on lay-a-way, and then made weekly payments over the phone via credit card. when it was down to the last $100, i went to the store, paid them, and took my ring home.

hey, it worked for us!

Nope not yet....... :crying: .Unfortunatley my man can't afford that right now.But I have to admit that I would really LOVE to get one.......(wouldn't even care if it was straight out of a freaking pawn shop, but he thinks thats just SO wrong since it would have nelonged to someone else before.....)

Well I know he'll be getting almost 2000$ back from his taxes pretty soon and I will be over there next month so maybe ,just maybe this time.

And if not -oh well then the wedding band will be one of those that has an engagment ring and the wedding band.

What counts for me is not the value, but the meaning and the fact that it's visible to everyone.

And I know for sure I will proudly wear it and never take it off.

Nat

Met on May 17,2005

Got engaged on Sep 15th,2006

Came to the US for good on Jan 27th,2009

GOD , grant me the serenity

to accept the things I can not change

the courage to change the things I can

and the wisdom to know the difference!

This was one of the greatest days of my life. Getting my ring at the Calgary Tower. His jeweler friend Matt

Praire designed it. 3 small diamonds in a white gold band. He also designed the gold bands which are plan.

I actually bought a small white gold band to go with the engagement ring after we got married, because the Gold band was too big for my finger and didn't look good with the engagement ring.

7-3-06 GREEN CARD ARRIVES IN MAIL!!!! Done for two years!!!!!!

I am here to help, even if it's just to offer my shoulder to cry or vent on... We are all in this together.!

My answers are based on personal experience, not fact.

We are on this rollercoaster ride together holding on for dear life.
