I will place a bet that Laura Ingram will say something negative again. I have no doubt. She's a nutcase radio talk show host. I listen to her not because I like her, it's to follow up on how dangerous she is alot of times. She does have considerable influence to her audience, however, not me.

Gary Sinise has donated to both Parties. There are many celebrities that do the same. Ron Silver was an ardent Democrat until 9/11 and then he become an ardent supporter of Bush and the War in Iraq. For all the Right Wing criticism of Hollywood, they don't realize that not everyone in Hollywood is ultra-liberal.

Not everyone in Hollywood is on the Left, but the vast majority is. It's easier to come out as a homosexual than as a Republican.

Not really, Scott. Ellen DeGeneres waited awhile before she came out....out of fear that her career would tank. Although it is getting easier for actors and comedians to be openly gay, there are many who don't want to jeopardize their career.

Well, I did have my tounge a bit in my cheek on that part, but it is true that it is hard to be openly Republican in Hollywood.

So true.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Senate Floor Speech on Public Debt

:P Ok, but even that assertion isn't true. Prominent Republicans like Clint Eastwood and Tom Selleck have enjoyed huge success and they are much admired and liked in Hollywood. Even Fred Thompson who ran for president is back in Hollywood. I know it makes for a good anecdote, but it just doesn't hold up in water.

Arnold Schwarzenegger too... And Chuck Norris.

Oh and I'd like to be the first to throw in "if it were so-and-so I bet people's reaction would be different"

I bet if it were David Caruso, you guys would be singing a different tune!

And what do all these actors have in common? They are all big name money makers, well established in their careers. There's a big difference between being openly Republican/Conservative when you've already made a name for yourself vs. when you are a relative unknown.

Whupt-ti-doo Scott.

Really... the only time anything political mattered in getting a job in Hollywood was during McCarthy's reign of stupidity.

Honestly, Scott - I've yet to hear about some actor who happens to be Republican, be turned down a part or black listed because of his party affiliation. Although there well may be more left leaning people in Hollywood, that doesn't mean the political minority gets marginalized. IMO, it is nothing more than another imagined "out to get us" viewpoint that gets perpetuated by Right Wing pundits. It simply doesn't exist.

So what... We don't exactly know the political affiliations of any unknown actors, so to make a blanket statement that actors must either be openly Democrat or otherwise hide their political affiliations is just ridiculous.

I'm not sure I understand what your basis is for stating that "its hard to be a Republican in Hollywood". Generally speaking becoming a movie star is difficult anyway - I don't really think its a profession where you're required to declare your political beliefs.
