Hello group:

I mailed my DS-230 on November 7th. I got a letter inthe mail today telling me I didn't complete it.

It says: Please submit a complete copy of form DS-230 Part 1, application Visa and Alien Registration- Biographic Data. In reviewing the form DS-230 Part 1 that you submitted, we note that you have either skipped Item 20 entirely or provided imcomplete information. The applicant must list all places lived for at least 6 months since reaching the age of 16. There must not be any gaps greater than 6 months. You will need to complete and submit a new form with the changes.

Ok. I live in Toronto, Canada for 3 months in 1975, and also Ottawa, Canada, for 2 months in 1976, I understood question 20 was about any place lived MORE than 6 months.

They are saying that a gap in my residence history exist of more THAN 6 months. HUH?

All I wrote in section 20 was my place of birth, city, province and year born and could not enter present. Will I need a police certificate from Ontario, I did not live in Toronto or Ottawa 6 months. I have never lived in another country. How do I answer question 20? And should I send two copies? Do they want another police certificate? You know New- Brunswick, Canada police certificate, do not look proffesional, I hate to say it. I sent mine in, it was a Canada wide search. I sent it with my DS-230.

Also they are saying that a police certificate are required for each visa applicant aged 16 years or older, based on where each applicant lives and has lived previously. Man. this is getting to be a headache. Please anyone help!!!. I need to mail this in as soon as possible. :crying:

Did you hand write in "present"? Husband forgot to put in the dates and thats why his was RFE'd. as far as police certs, nope don't need more. they were already supposed to be for all of canada

Hi, and thanks for responding. I'm the one moving to the USA, and no, I didn't write present because it doesn't LET you write in present. Hand write? Sheesh. Sorry, I said I was RFE, nope it is a check list letter from NVC. I sure hope they didn't lose my police check. Grrrrrrrrrrrr. I can't believe one word would make such a difference. Should I write Ottawa and Toronto, since I live there only 2 and 3 months? The word PRESENT, I cannot believe this. Oh well. let me do it again. I will give them two copies just in case...

RFE is the checklist letter. You don't have to write in Ottawa or Toronto. But write the from date you started wherever to present, that is the reason we had to send in part one back.
