Hey Mena folks,

I'm new to VJ and this question is for those of you who went through the K1 process. I have visited my fiance twice in Morocco and both times I stayed with his family. The problem is that since I stayed with his family I can't really PROVE that I was in Taza because I don't have any hotel receipts etc. So I am trying to use my currency exchange receipts as proof that I was in Taza. Do you think this will be sufficient. Second, unfortunately its all in French and Arabic so I need it to be translated. How did you guys go about getting you docs translated? My fiance speaks english but I don't think I would call him fluent. And I work offshore and so I don't have the time available to me to hunt for a translator. What are your suggestions for translation?

I'll give my thanks in Advance...Shukran!

Welcome to Vj,

Meanwhile did you take pictures with them? Your flight tickets there?

Those are evidence you can show....

Its understandable you stayed with them...so get picturs to also indicate that meanwhile your flight ticket down there is Evidence.

Welcome to VJ!

Things you can use as evidence are

Flight ticket receipts

receipts from any place you visited

pictures

letters from family and friends (yours and his) talking about your trip

passport visa stamps

itemized phone statements showing phone calls

receipts from packages sent

These are just a few ideas of things he can provide to prove a real relationship. One of the best things is pictures. Nothing shows ur visits better than photo evidence.

Good luck on your journey!

I never stayed in hotels the 3 times I went there.

Some things I showed as proof I was there:

Copies of my passport, which were stamped

boarding pass stubs (the one you get to keep)

copies of etickets

copy of my bank statement showing I'd used my debit card there

Pictures with the date setting on it (even if your camera does do it, many photo printing will put the date on there if you choose that setting - since they're digital pics, it already knows the date the pic was taken)

And as others said - pictures. Many of the pics I submitted in the original petition were ones that clearly showed I was in Morocco (scenic, landmark specific ones)......

Wish-upon-a-star-1.jpg

2009-07-11 AOS packet mailed (and supposedly delivered the same day)

2009-07-15 NOA1 for I-485, I-131, I-765 (USCIS rec'd date is 07-12)

2009-08-05 Case transferred to CSC

2009-08-12 no biometrics yet.......called on 30 day mark to report no biometrics, a service inquiry has been made on the case.....

2009-08-25 - received Biometrics appointment letter!

2009-08-27 I-131 (AP) approved

2009-09-15 Biometrics appointment

2009-09-15 EAD Card production ordered!

2009-09-23 EAD Card received

2009-10-06 GC approved/card production ordered

2009-10-13 GC received in the mail!

Same here, never stayed in a hotel in Egypt.... after the passport stamp, and boarding passes, the photos are the BEST evidence, and it's great if you have them of you with him AND the family members... You need the dates on the boarding passes/visa to show WHEN you were there... and the photos to show WHY you were there and WHO you were there with....

I certainly wouldn't bother having receipts translated unless you get a request for more evidence. Did you use your ATM or credit cards? That would be easier than translation...

Good luck!

It really doesn't matter where u stay as long as they is evidence that you both have met in person /face to face which I assumed you have based on the photo you posted on your page with him right? ..You can meet you fiancee in heaven or hell but the bottom line is that they want to know that you both have physically seen each other face to face although there are some situation where by USCIS will waive the face to face meeting based on some cultures and if you're in this category then all you have to do is prove to them that you cannot meet face to back based on your culture but you are not even in this category but I think you are find and also copies of your passport entry and exit visa should be a powerful evidence ...But any PHOTO with the two of you is the most POWERFUL even if you both took the photos in the USA it doesnt matter ...as long as it is evidence that you have met

Thanks everyone for you responses!!! The advice you have given is great. Unfortunately, I wasn't thinking about putting together a petition for a visa when I went. I wish I would have know I would be because I would have done things a little differently...hindsight is 20/20, right? I didn't use my credit cards while I was there...I always had cash that I exchanged when I got there. I do have my boarding ticket stubs but I didn't fly into his town because there is no airport there. The first time I flew into Tanger and took the train to Fes and then his brother picked me up and drove me to Taza. The second time I flew into Fes and again I was driven to Taza. I'm just trying to be as thorough as possible...I don't think I could handle RFEs extending an already too long process. Anyway...thanks again! :)

welcome to VJ

I wanted to say in the beginning of our relationship I had NO idea I would filing papers and gathering all evidence as such however I just did the best I could....I mean we lacked chat records and phone records however, for us, they never really asked or looked for that. Maybe cuz we were married?

Well good luck to you and in the future keep track of all. Phone records, receipts, etickets, boarding passes, all post correspondence, ring receipts, pix...etc...there is too much to gather, make 2 copies always and keep these files for the long haul....you will need them way down the road

Granted, we went through Cairo and that was almost 4 years ago, but here's what we included:

*Lots of pictures of us together, and a few with my family and him (they went to Egypt with me once), and a few with me and his family

*Stubs of train trips we took together and places we visited

*My boarding passes to Egypt + passport stamps - I also didn't fly into his hometown, no biggy.

*Copies of letters we exchanged + screen shots of our inboxes throughout our relationship + a selection of emails from throughout the relationship

We never stayed in a hotel, and didn't have any problem.

Welcome to VJ!!!!!!!:)

I would show evidence of your intinerary from when you bought your ticket if it was emailed to you...Currency exchange. When I was there, my husband got everything translated there from a translator. I think for all of our documents he paid about $100 for 20 documents. I don't know how it might be in Taza though. However, I am thinking that you could probably find a place here for them to do it.

My husband also had his father and relatives write letters to say that they knew about the relationship and those were translated as well. So those are some other options. You can even send pictures of you two together at various locations, email logs, phone records. I think for my application I just sent a ####### load. I wish you the best of luck being that we are both new to this too. If you have any questions or need an ear do not hesitate to contact me.
