My fiance is a Pakistani citizen but he will be interviewing at the London embassy for the K-1 visa. I have a question about birth certificates...

My fiance's original birth certificate has many problems:

1. It does NOT have his name on it

2. It is filled in with basic ball-point pen

3. It has errors that were crossed out with pen and corrected in pen on it when it was originally made.

So we have decided that he will present the following:

1. Affidavit from mother about his birth details

2. Metric/School Certificates

We wanted to know:

Should we include his original birth certificate also? Even though it is in such terrible condition?

Or should be just say that he does not have a birth certificate?

P.S. Some people suggested already for us to get a new birth certificate made, as it is easy in Pakistan, just need the $$$, but we do not want to do that. We want to do everything properly and correctly. And some people also suggested we get a letter from the Health Ministry in Pakistan stating that there is no birth certificate available for my fiance, but that does not seem right to us, he does have a birth certificate, even though it is in bad condition. But at the same time, we do not want to give the CO a reason to doubt or scrutinize the birth certificate!

Please advise!

Thanks!

Take the original birth certificate, if it is possible to obtain a copy before the interview do so and take that as well. Explain that the original is so bad you obtained a copy for clarification.

Do not say he doesn't have a birth certificate. Never lie to an immigration official it could came back to haunt you and be a problem some time in the future.

if you say he doesn't have BC, then CO would definitly ask him to make one and come back..............cuz you know it is also in required documents that you are bringing your BC as well.............i dont know when your fiance is going to embassy for his interview but if he believes he has plenty of time then i would suggest him or you to make a new one and clip it with the original one to back it up...............Inshallha CO will be accepting it, and it would be good as compare to saying :he doesn't have BC:.......................................

if your fiance is from karachi, then i can help you out...
