DS-3032...Possible bug in downloadable form on state dept website

Hi,

I've been looking at one of the shortcuts, which is having a signed copy of the DS-3032 in hand before the NVC generates it. So I downloaded the form from the following link, http://www.state.gov/documents/organization/80023.pdf, filled it out for my wife and e-mailed it to her.

After she printed it and about to sign it she pointed out that I accidentally typed in our last name in the Country field a little more than halfway down the form after where we would check off that "I do not appoint an agent or attorney...".

I never remembered doing that so I looked at my version of the completed file and I indeed saw it. I tried to delete it, but then saw that the last name I put all the way at the top of the DS-3032, the last name of the beneficiary also got deleted. When I typed the last name at the top again, the same last name reappeared in the Country field more than halfway down the form.

It seems to me that there's a bug in their pdf whereas whatever you enter in Last Name at the top of the DS-3032 gets automatically typed in Country field halfway down the form. I can't find any easy way to get rid of this by editing the PDF.

Can someone point me to a downloadable DS-3032 that does not have this bug, or help me figure out how I could get rid of it? I could contact the state department about it but not sure how. I know I could fill the form out by hand as a last resort but would prefer completing it on the computer then printing it for her to sign.

It also happened for us, dont type anything there, just hand write it in and you'll be good.

hi there,

i would stronly suggest to re do it all over again..

download the new PDF and fill it up all over again..

that is the best way you can do it if you really prefer using computer and print it and send it to your wife...

that is my husband's suggestions too for we did have that kind of situation before while we are still proccessing my K1..

It will not work. The same thing happened to me and the only way to go is to leave it empty and add it afterwords with a pen. I tried to solve this bug for a week before I gave up. I tried everithing even editing the document with adobe acrobat proffesional, but I couldn't do it because the file was encripted. And I couldn't find a version of it that is not bugged. So don't waste your time trying.

well, i guess for you it really doesn't work.. but for me and husband it did work..

I also noticed it. I tried to fix it but could not find a way out.

I will print out a blank form and hand write it, then mail it to my husband to sign.

Yea I give up. Just told my wife to fill it out completely and send it to me.

we filled it out with the extra words and then whited out that part and photo copied it and had my husband sign the bottom of the photocopy... it worked for us..

Whiting out is a bad idea. They don't know if whiting out was before or after the signature so in general don't white out unless the beneficiary initials. For us, we filled out the entire form excluding that field. We wrote those fields in by hand. They accepted it from us no problem.

yeah! whiting out is a bad idea for it gives the reciever or i would say the USCIS personnel a bad thought that the docs is being falsified!!

if it PDF doesn't really work on your end guys, just print it and hand write it, it would be much safe and worry free!!
