I am not sure with the AOS interview, all i know is for the BIO no need for your husband...but with your case i think its ok since your husband s on active duty. just bring your military id card and a copy of your husband's orders....

It will be fine. Goodluck and God bless! Im pretty sure everything will be alright.... No worries!

Yes you can and should. Just take a copy of his orders with you and explain to them your situation. Make sure you take enough proof of a bonafide marriage too - usual photos, marriage cert, joint bank etc.... Emails or letters from him while in Afganistan may also help incase they want more proof...

Irene, on biometrics you can do it alone. With AOS interview it is better if your husband is with you. Better call USCIS hotline and inquire if you can have the interview while your husband is defending the country. :)

You should never ignore any interview or appointment request from USCIS. Even if your husband is not here, you should still go. If you don't, you risk being deported.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

And be careful with whatever they tell you on the USCIS help line. They are incorrect a lot. I'm confused if you are going for AOS interview or biometrics, but if it's biometrics, you can go by yourself. That might also be a good time to ask about AOS if he's still gone. You'd probably get a more accurate response than the help line.

Timeline

AOS

Mailed AOS, EAD and AP Sept 11 '07

Recieved NOA1's for all Sept 23 or 24 '07

Bio appt. Oct. 24 '07

EAD/AP approved Nov 26 '07

Got the AP Dec. 3 '07

AOS interview Feb 7th (5 days after the 1 year anniversary of our K1 NOA1!

Stuck in FBI name checks...

Got the GC July '08

i agree with msu17...dont rely so much on the answers of uscis on the hotline because its hard to corroborate them, its just an oral thing.

if i am n your shoes, I WILL STILL GO FOR THE BIOMETRICS OF COURSE AND FOR SURE and then FOR THE AOS INTERVIEW I WILL STILL GO FOR IT AND JUST BRING ALL THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS AGAIN LIKE YOUR MILITARY ID, HUSBANDS ORDERS, PROOF OF MARRIAGE AND ALL OTHER EVIDENCE CORROBORATING MARRIAGE...

no matter what, you have to come on the scheduled dates and just explain your situation and show your proof...if they will require you to come again when hubby s there, then better, for as long as you still show there and show your concern on this matter and honor their appointments, everything will be ok...i dont think they will be that unreasonable.....you belong to the family that makes us safe you deserve such treatment...

I salute Military families for their courage and braveness and for all their sacrifices...

i salute your family irene...God bless to you and your husband and of course your entire family....
