So far, no one is blaming the oil speculators for our current financial disaster, same thing happened back in 1974, the price didn't inch up, but shot up instantaneously catching just about everyone off guard. And why are domestic energy sources going up with it? Somebody has made a huge amount of money from this, but it's kept very quiet, not even the media is talking about it.

Now there is fear in the market place for buying anything expensive, so even with the much lower price on gas, sales have not picked up. People no longer trust the government that should be at least investigating these drastic price increases. Do you blame them?

And the speculators are currently hoping for a drastic cut by OPEC next week to send oil prices up again. In my book, it would be like selling a bottle of water or loaf of bread for $20 after a disaster had struck. Who cares if the world is collapsing around me as long as I am making money. Greed, pure and simple, just like the banking collapse. I think the high oil prices have had a significant part in the current economic situation.

I am not a GM hater, I just dislike the arrogant pr1ck that runs this derailed company. Further, I don't care for the UAW, because unions generally bury companies in this day and age.

Either way, I will never buy a vehicle that craps out before the warranty expires. That fate is not yours, if you buy an: Acura, Honda, Lexus, Toyota, Infiniti or Nissan....

Right, Jap cars never break down and an American car has never made it past the warranty period. :bonk:

I have had and I have driven many cars.

I bought a Toyota MR2 1986, in 1991.

I raced it (just an expression as I like to drive fast) and drove it all over the place, and finally drove it in the heart of Winter to Vancouver from Montreal (moved there).

Sold it there after a year or so to get a 1986 Toyota Supra. I raced that around one even harder (is that possible), drove it many long trips into the mountains and beyond.

I had each one for about 7 years.

I love road trips.

They never had problems and never broke down. Neither of them. Ever.

Manual transmission of course, and a car lover for an owner helps I guess. Hee, hee.

I used to work as a car service adviser then a warranty manager in Montreal (in another life, haha). Everything from Toyota to, BMW, to exotic Italian beauties. Mmmmm...

And so, my point:

I would take a Toyota over any vehicle any day of the week.

They just make sense on every level.

I can understand the fear of buying for some people. I'm not in the best of times myself with my career. But in my opinion a lot has to do with the idiotic media who won't shut up. All you hear is don't by a car now. Or American cars are pieces of #######. I wish they'd stop stating their opinion and report just news, otherwise shut the ---- up. The media is bringing down this country and scaring the ####### out of everyone. Where I live all you see are full size American trucks and SUV's. For a lot of people here that is all they would drive. A few people I know have bought in the past couple of month's. Some great prices out there for what I think are some of the best vehicles ever made.
