Track status

Ok. I am new to this..so I see peoples timelines and things like "touched" and NOA received. I am working with a lawyer and I don't know any of that lingo. Can someone tell me how to track this whole thing. I managed to find that i can go online to UCSIC(sp) and track it there, but I have no number to put in. So what do I do? I sent all my stuff to my lawyer the week of April 24, 2006 and I have not received any type of receipt and my check still has not been cashed for the fee from the Consulate/Embassy people.. any ideas?

My main question is and how can I track what you all seem to be tracking?

You can go to the USCIS website and register to track your case...you will need your reciept number to do this.. This is the number that you recieve when you get your NOA1 (the reciept that shows that your petition has been recieved).

Once you have registered you can track to see when your case was updated... when this date changes it means your case was touched
