POE experience

Hello everybody,

Well, I landed at Chicago OHARE airport on the 9th a 5 am. There were not too many ppl working at immigration booths. So, I stood in the line for about 1 hour and 15 minutes. When my turn came, they guy took my brown envelop and passport and took me to a different room and asked me to sit and wait. It was already 6:20 by that time and i had to catch a flight at 7 for mpls. There was only one very bitchy lady working. Since, she was the only working, i could understand her frustration. After waiting for about 15 more minutes, i decided to ask how long it might take and what actually is the process. Man, that woman was rude. She would not say anything except "I am working alone. I got only 2 hands, I got only 2 ears, I got only one mouth" I dont know anybody who has more hands,ears or mouths. Well, I sat there thinking somebody will come and interview me since there were many interview rooms around. Right at 6:55, she called me. I tried to carry my hand carry bag and the x-ray anticipating that i might have to go to one of these rooms to get interviewed. She asked me very rudely to leave everything on the bench where it already was. I went upto her bench. She took fingerprint of my index finger on a paper which looked like a form of some sort and made me sign, stamped my passport and asked me that i could go. Thats it !!?? Well, I had carried the sealed x-ray extremely safely upto the airport like my life depended on it and she did not even throw a glance at it. So, I had to ask her what to do with the x-ray. So, once again in her very own rude manner and a devilish look on her face, she snapped back, "do whatever you want to do with it". Oh well, I left with my passport. I missed my plane. had another one at 9:15. Sat down and looked in the passport to see what she had stamped. It said something like 'alien has been informed about lifting the condition of his residency or something. when did she inform me about all that???!!!

After seeing my wife after 17 months ( i dont know how to explain how I felt), I tried to recall several times the lady's very unprofessional and unmannered behaviour. Then i remembered something very ironic. when i was sitting on the bench and waiting for the lady to call me, towards my right i saw a stand where there were pictures of the two highest ranking immigration and airport officials of OHARE airport and it said in quote, "WE PROMISE TO TREAT YOU WITH DIGNITY AND RESPECT".
