Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Does not apply to K-3, though there isn't much room for shortcuts as the I-129F goes directly to the consulate.

It seems the only shortcut is downloading the Packet 3 and Packet 4 from the consulates website, completing them and sending by courier to the consulate before you receive the respective packets from the consulate itself?

No, it's for streamlining the NVC process for CR-1/IR-1. For K-3 the petition is barely there, they just forward it to the consulate.

Note:

Please fill out I-130, wait 6 months for approval, then 3 more months for an interview. (Unless of course we've bombed your country into the stone age, then you qualify for expedited processing.)

Welcome to the USA!!!

Go for CR1 because when the immigrant spouse arrives in the US he/she will receive the greencard in a few days, will be able to work right away, get the driver's license and stuff.

On the other hand, the k3 will demand you to keep stressing out about papers... The person will need to adjust your status once he/she enters the US. Wait a few more months for the greencard. He/she won't be able to work until he/she gets the work permit.... This may take up to 4 monts in some cases. The greencard itself may take even more time than that.

If I were you I would do what most people here seems to be doing: setting up the interview date for k3 for about 50 days later, so you have time to finish the NVC process for your CR1. When your CR1 papers arrive at the consulate you ask them to change the k3 interview for the CR1.

Read the guides and the Wiki here at VJ. They explain step by step how to get the CR1 in a faster way.

Good Luck!
