Moving to a new country is scary, no matter how many times you've visited. I felt the same way right before I moved. It was strange because it was something I had been looking forward to for over a year and then when the time came I felt like I couldn't breathe. The day I actually flew in was hard at first, until I reminded myself that I was going to be with the love of my life and we could get through anything together.

You can do it! Just remember that he's there waiting for you! Good luck and we're here any time you need to talk!

I think we're all crazy! Leaving behind our country for another? Moving to a place with a different style of government, a different healthcare system, different foods, even (depending on where you go) different culture?

We're nuts!

Seriously, though, I think you'd be insane NOT to be scared!

March 13, 2009--Visa application handed to the post office.

March 16, 2009--Visa application received by Vermont Service Centre at 11:01 am. Let's hope that he actually put in everything he thought he did and they don't send it back to us!!

March 23, 2009--Got the whole package back. The cheque was apparently filled out incorrectly, thanks to the fact that his moronic flatmates helped him and instructed him wrong for the first cheque he ever filled out.

March 30, 2009--NOA1

August 12, 2009--Touched

September 1, 2009, received Package 1 from Montreal--but where is our NOA2???

No Tim Hortons!! (and the few States that do have them, they suck, lol)

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Eh... I'm really meh about Timmies. I've worked there twice. Both time, it DESTROYED me. I got so sick the second time that I couldn't work. It's a lot more high stress than you'd think and a lot of my co-workers weren't smart enough to be able to operate a till, so I ended up doing triple what I should have been. >.< Besides, I'm allergic to caffeine, so the only thing there that I can have that I actually enjoy is everything bagels toasted with herb and garlic cream cheese. And I'm not supposed to have those anymore cause of fat content.

I think we have all been there in one form or another. Change - especially big change - always comes with that second thought of 'what have I got myself into!??" Even when it is something that you've been looking forward to the 'unknown' can be a worrisome thing. Life, though is full of these challenges so, you just grab a big breath, reach out and take hold of your future with both hands knowing that it will 'stretch your comfort zone boundaries' but, ultimately, will be one of the best decisions in your life when you look back on it in the years to come.

Welcome to Atlanta - it is a lovely City and Georgia is a beautiful state in which to live. May you be very, very happy here.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Dear Catherine, you feel what you feel.

No one can deny you that.

And you may feel like this again at some point in the future.

It will go up and down and this way and that way.

An ebb and flow.

How else could it be for any feeling human being?

There will be moments that you will feel 100% sure and moments that you will feel only 2% sure. Hahaha.

And everything in between!

All I can say at this point is if you find your community, and can carve out a niche for yourself, you will be fine, great, super!

In less than one month it will be a year since I came to live with my sweetie.

It has been a most challenging time....like most of my life. Hee, hee.

We will be creating new agreements and keeping ones that have worked.

And then we will observe some more.

I desire a sacred-heart-connection; simply living with status quo does not work for me.

This city is not my "resting" ground and so...the sooner we move to the West Coast, the better.

Seattle maybe?

A good (re)start, that would be.

:star:

You will do foolish things.

Don't just do something. Sit there.
