Hi

Stepfather requested us on a i-130 for me and my brother a year ago or more, Everything has been going great and my papers arrived first(Due to me just turning 18 i think?)

I turned 18 on june 2nd, and according to the law thats when they begin counting the time you overstay in the US, when you're no longer minor..We asked 5 different lawyers about how the case is going and if its safe to leave the US and be guranteed this. Every single one of them said everything was fine, that once we received our package that it was safe for me to leave the US.

On oct31st I left the US to colombia(My home country) to await for my interview there, they also requested a record check paper(In colombia its called 'Pasado Judicial') and a original copy of my birth certificate, so as soon as I got these I mailed it to them. They received these documents and said that at the pase my case is going it will be 4-8 weeks for them to give me my interview in Colombia.

I've been in colombia for a little over a month now and I decided to check online for my status with the receipt number and I go this.

Application Type: I130, IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On June 18, 2008, we received this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN, and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our VERMONT SERVICE CENTER location

(^^ We followed all instructions and did everything it was asked)

I'm very scared I won't get the interview or something will go wrong because I have everything in the states, and if something happens I won't be allowed to go back :{

I'm also wondering what is asked or how is the interview for Me, My Stepdad(A US Citizen) will fly to colombia for the day of the interview.

and if I get approved on the day of the interview how long is the wait before I can leave Colombia to the States..My dream and wish to be there for christmas..

Someone familiar with this type of case/process

Please Help=]

I will add some of what I sent in a PM. Call the NVC get your BGT case number, go to the embassy web site to check the current dates http://bogota.usembassy.gov/iv-appointments.html you can also call the NVC with either your BGT of NVC case number and ask if your interview has been scheduled and the operator will let you know. This is how I found out my kids interview. Do not stress so much it will be good :)

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

well, i called and the good news is the case was approved/completed by nvc on nov27..and they said i have to wait up 6weeks now for the interview=/

looks like im spending xmas here.

The NVC schedules interview appointments with the embassy during the first two weeks of the month for the following month. Since your case was completed on 11/27, it means that there is a very good chance your interview was scheduled during the first two weeks of December, unfortunately, it will most likely take place in January. In order for you to have gotten a December interview, your case should've been completed before the first two weeks of November.
