So hubby calls today and says the embassy called. I almost fell over thinking they wanted his passport.

No. They called him to ask his brothers and sisters names and addresses and phone numbers. Is this normal? I thought AP was done here.

*chewing nails and trying not to call the magic number til tommorrow.

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Not sure if it is normal in Amman but I have read of it happening in some other countries (I think Vietnam).

At least it means they are working on your case :)

Hey Jax,

don't worry I know Tammy's husband had received the same request and there was someone else from Jordan too - I forget who. Tammy's husband got his visa a few weeks later. The other couple I don't remember. But I know I've seen this type of request out of Amman at least twice before.

Don't they do that in Cairo too? Or is that something different like home visits?

I wouldnt worry - it's just his brothers and sisters they're asking info about. They're your family now..I'm sure they'll just confirm their support

I have heard of Cairo/Alex home visits...but I don't remember the family information request...

I'm thinking they maybe be checking names against others in immigration process w/ the same family name. It happens...if his family name is common they'd double check with others and their immigration status.

That can be very normal . Sometimes they call to see if other people in the family know about the marriage or to see what their immigration status is in the US or if they are married etc. The home visits often are not directly to the homes but to the people around the home to see if the neighbors know about the marriage as well. This is very very normal, especially if the person has family members residing in the US. Sometimes they just want to talk to the family to confirm things or just to check names against other lists. I saw this a couple times..one time out of Tunisia where the beneficiary had family that knew the petitioner and they lived here. They might just want to confirm where the family lives.

I would not worry very much about it. It sounds like his family all lives there and I am sure they are just doing fact checking and trying to clear the visa to get ready to issue it. My gut feeling is that they are getting ready to issue the visa and doing something called COLLATERAL where they show support for the approval of the visa and can show that they confirmed information with another party other than you 2 guys. I think they do alot of their checking ( this is my personal belief) long before the packet even hits the embassy on the ground when its either in NVC or even at USCIS with the police forced based in country. I know frankly that they use the actual police force from the country of origin for alot of things. It sounds positive in that its happening so fast from the day of the interview and My gut feeling is as long as everything checks out with the family , that they will issue the visa..I think everything will be fine

Jax, I think it's fairly normal. I know I've seen it quite a few times here in VJ where they were approved but then they were asked for more information. Typically, from what I've seen, they've gotten their visas within a couple weeks of the request for new info. Keep that chin up and things will be happening sooooooooon ensha'allah!!! :luv:

Visited Jordan-December 2004

Interview-December 2005

Visa approved-December 2005, 1 week later after supplying "more information"

Arrived U.S.A.-December 2005

Removed Conditions-September 2008

Jax, first, calm down and say thank God that their paws are on it - just think, "It's getting touched allover!". :P Second, you all have nothing to hide...and if Ibrahim is cool with it you should be too. I have heard of this happening and although it seems unexpected, it is nothing major.

I hope you have awesome news very soon.
