So I called my congressman since it's been a week and a half since I contacted them. They said they have not gotten an answer back yet from the USCIS. How long does it usually take for the senator/congressman to get an answer back?

My senator received an answer back in 48 hours. It didn't say much though... just that my case had been assigned to an adjudication officer.

How did your senator communicate back to you that he/she received an answer? Phone call, email, or postal mail?

I've received responses through both phone calls and emails.

NatPatBen you sure got me excited when I read the first line. Good thing I read further, else I would have been dancing all over here.

At least you know there will be some movement on your file now.

MissDinaDee Congratulations on your interview date and all the best of luck.

BonoBGood Nice to see you again. How's your journey coming along?

Thanks, BL2B! I was just thinking how quiet our group has been lately. Carolina and I are doing well! We just finished arranging our flight plans for my trip out to be with her for the interview, and then her flight to move out her afterward! Its an exciting time for sure!! We are both really happy and thrilled to complete this part of the process.

Carolina has been setting up her medical and vaccinations. Things are nearly complete.

How about you guys? How is your journey going?

I was JUST thinking the same thing.

I had my paperwork ready for a week or so before I sent it, but I waited for my SO to get results of the blood tests from his doctor... just in case. That way, I wouldn't pay and go through the whole process only to get denied at the medical. I often wonder if we'd already be approved if I sent it in when it was ready, or if I paid to overnight it instead of send it through regular mail.

But I don't get too worked up, cause everything happens for a reason.

Mr. Twister, how did the infopass appointment go?

I dreamed that I checked the USCIS website and my petition was approved. Then I woke up.

Mr. Twister, are you out there? Tell us something good, please.

Mr. Twister said this about his appointment:

OK-- I spoke to the officer at the window - it was pretty much the same as talking to someone on the phone but at least he pulled up the file and said that the last action that took place was on Dec 30...not much help BUT, he said It should have been done by now and he said don't waste your time calling....write a letter to the VSC and make it to the attention of the I129 supervisor. I went ahead and made a call to the number we usually call. When i reached a live person I asked to speak to the I129 supervisor - they asked why and I explained I have a concern with my application and that I went to the infopass and they also had a concern. I spoke to two others folks and i explained that myself and others with the date of dec 29 have yet to be touched while others way beyond us are finished. It seems like they took note of all my details but they said some cases take longer than others and bla, bla, bla....the way I look at it is I'm slowly building a case so when that 6 month date comes....I can call and say all I have been thru and thats at least a jump start to the next step. Lets see what happens...

Ahhh - you had me going, too!! That's weak sauce, but I know your approval won't be long. I think our change of address may have been what got our forms into some people's hands and led to our approval. Here's to hoping that the technique works for you as well!!

That was the goal! My address change was to switch the letter/number for my apartment. So instead of, say, A2, I changed it to say 2A. Very minor, but I'm hoping that it forces them to find the paperwork.

Congrats Ms Dina Dee! As far as the filling out more paperwork for AOS, I'm gonna get started on that as soon as I get back from next week's trip to Jamaica. I figure, may as well use our time apart to fill out that paperwork, so when we're together we can have our time for... other things.

NatPatBen, that is a great idea... I will be more on top of all my paperwork going forward, I just needed a little break. Hmmm, want some free time while on the islands, I wonder why... If you come up for air have a rum punch and some curried goat for me please!!! ;)

Thanks, Cereza.

I am also a December 129F filer (19th). I decided to call the USCIS office and get SOMETHING.....ANYTHING why so many January and even a few Feb. petitions are being approved and so many Dec. are still waiting. I might as well have talked to my neighbors 12 year old dog. I got the impression the woman was simply reading the same statement when you access your online account "WE received your petition on......bla bla bla". "I am sorry sir but some petitions can take longer than others". "You can make a formal inquiry after the standard 6 month period has expired." So mad and let down, are petition is just days away from 5 months. Sorry for the rant.

Mental note......the IRS is no longer my most despised Government agency.

I completely understand how you feel! It is amazing that we can get no information on our cases. I think we would all handle this a lot better if they were more open with what is going on!!

Any news today?

I'll see if I can stir up something by calling customer service and asking why my case hasn't been updated, even though I've updated my address.

Nat, Today I wrote a letter to the USCIS like Mr. Twister said. He also told me he wrote his letter today, maybe you should do the same. I also contacted one of my congressman, but nothing so far. 2morrow will be 2 weeks since I contacted him! There is something seriously wrong here!

I just got off the phone with the customer service center. I told the lady, Janet, that I was concerned because although I completed a change of address form, I did not see that my case status/date was updated. She told me that changing the address online won't result in a touch.

I did internally chuckle at that, though I was sad, cause I really thought I had found a way to get them to touch the case. Oh, well.

She also read to me for about 5 minutes straight on the process, talking about priority changes & the phases the paperwork goes through before going to an adjudicator. Then she started talking about the standard processing time. Good thing I was on a headset so I could still work while listening to all the talk.

When she finished, I told her that I think the box with my paperwork is lost. She said to call back after 6 months and they can put in a service request. They give themselves 45 days to respond to service requests, though.

It wasn't a complete waste, since I found out that the address change was in vain... but that was one of the first things she told me. I should've just got off the phone after finding that out.

Nice try Nat. We can only sit and wait. But my patience is real thin. I am debating just moving back to my fiance's country and getting married there. At least we'd be together here or there, but together.
