I'm going to be one of those people most don't like but it needs to be said.

Yes, the system has flaws. However, we do have to keep in mind it is a logistical nightmare to do their job. Could you imagine how slow the system would be as a whole if they couldn't issue approvals as they arrive or an adjudicator couldn't start work because his coworkers were still working on later files. Does any of this make sense? I imagine they do process cases as they are received BUT every case is different and every circumstance is different. You may think it is cut and dry and it could very well not be.

Now, that said I'm not one of those people that says this after they get approved. My petition has gone missing, it's been sent to wrong consulates, anything that could have gone wrong with our case short of an RFE has. But yet, I didn't call USCIS once when they didn't cash my cheque. I gave them time and refiled. NVC on the other hand..thats a whole different can of worms...

Long story short, I'm sorry your petitions have gone unnoticed for so long and as much as we'd like to think its a customer service oriented industry it isn't. What they put us through is for a reason and pretty damn good one at that. In fact, I hope the Government of Canada is this thorough as well.

It's not a logisitical nightmare to make sure all of us mail in our taxes on the 15th of April, or the other million things that the government does by dates that if we don't comply with on time we get fees for. They are efficient with the things they want to be with....millions of Americans have to hand in their taxes on a certain date, why can't the government get the visas down pack for a way less quantity of transactions? I don't care that it's 2 different departments....they can do what ever they put as a priority

I completely agree!!!

We found out our interview date today :wow:

As of Monday April 27, the consulate still didn't have our petition. We decided to give them a week before checking again, lest we find our petition at the bottom of the barrel lol. Today my fiance got a response to his email by 11 am. They said they'd received the petition, sent him a letter telling him what forms to print and take along (which we already had from their website) and they'd already set the interview for us! June 16 is the BIG day! WOO HOO! Rio

My fiancee just picked up the packet from USEM today. Apparently it had been in their hands since April 23 but her reluctance to call them has cause a little bit of a delay. Seems they've made attempts to send her the packet but had a problem with the address. It never arrived. She's going to fax me a copy of the packet so that I can ensure that she has all that she needs. We're taking this step slowly as to be sure that she is well prepared for the interview. We don't want to chance it having come all this way and then get denied at the interview. We've waited all this time, we can wait a little longer. GOOD LUCK to all who are still waiting.

Did you hear a reason why? HB1 applications were due April 7, which may be affecting the processing of family-based visas. I'm not sure if that's what's going on at Vermont, too, but that's the word for CSC.

I don't get that? You mean HB1 applications were due to turn in, and now USCIS has all these applications now? No wonder from my congressman yet. I am hoping tomorrow they contact me

Have any of you left behind December filers considered the infopass route?

No. I haven't looked into that. Have you?

What would they be able to do at an Infopass appointment? And are they in-person or over the phone? I'm not too familiar with them.

Well there is a branch across the street from my office  so after speaking to someone today they said I can make an infopass appointment and they can give me more detail. I went ahead and got an appointment for Tuesday 5-12. Keep in mind that I clearly understand it has not been 6 months but when I see NO Dec 29 filers and lots off approvals in Jan...it's hard to sit around and do nothing.

I also email Sen Mel Martinez. Lets see what happens...
