December '08 Vermont K-1 Filers

hi everyone!

i'm also a december'08 filer.. 'sent our I129-F at VSC last December 16, 2008, and was received December 19, 2008.. still waiting for NOA1..

we'll let's all hope and pray for a smooth visa journey!

Since most of us don't have our SO's close to us this holiday season.

Is anyone else going to be spending time with some of their In-laws or fiance(e)'s relatives ?

I'll be seeing some of my fiance's relatives this Christmas weekend. Yes, they are an interesting bunch. I dont mind it though, cuz they spoil me everytime i see them.

To my delight, I received confirmation from the US Postal Service that my I-129F package was delivered today! I just mailed it on Friday and thought it might take longer to arrive due to holidays and lack of expedited service.

I know this isn't a huge step, as it's not even part of the official timeline, but it still feels good to know that I'm one baby step closer.

Im 12000 miles away from my SO but I look on the bright side, this may just be my last Christmas on home turf.

I remember we were so happy when we got Noa1. It wasnt appearnt to us at that point that the journey to Noa2 would be a long one, It seems the few months are a enterinty, but this site does help talking to others who are feeling the same things you are, you end up supporting each other on days when one of you are down, then maybe a few days or week later, you get support when you feel that nothing is going on and feel so helpless and sometimes think USCIS has lost your file or nothing is happening and you just get depressed. You see others getting Noa2 and even people weeks after you getting approved, but then the magic day you get your Noa2 you are on top of the world. That time period had been tuff, now you wait for you file to go to NVC and next to the embassy so you can get a interview date. This all moves much faster (or it did for us) and soon your forget the worries of waiting for Noa2, but still have sad feelings for some of your friends you have made here maybe havent gotten there Noa2. But next you worry about the medical, I didnt realize we would get so stressed over that, then worry about passing interview. But none of those are as bad as that wait for Noa2, or wasnt for us. So stay cheerful best you can and be thankful for this site where you at least know you are not alone and others have the same concerns and worries, You at least have information that helps make it through this ruff period. Yes, I'm trying to be thankful for every step taking me closer to my Fiance being here. I'm also very thankful of Visajourney, it's been a great source of infomation and i've also meet some wonderful people that know about this journey and have been such an encouragement to me.

I have a question...I've heard people talk a lot about getting "Touched" ...what does that mean?

Now like everyone else who's been and is currently doing, the BIG WAIT for that big NOA2.

The touch basically means your file has been placed on a shelf, a stack or safely somewhere, that's it.

When you check the status online, it will say "Last Updated." If that date changes, it means your file has been 'Touched.' It won't change the status of your file or give you anymore details, but some action has been taken.

Hope everyone is enjoying their holidays as much as possible, without your loved one. Let's hope for some speedy approvals!!

Xaenyth you have alot of touches, what exactly does that mean that your status on uscis's website says 12.16.08... happy holidays to all the VJ community especially to all the dec 08 filers.... and how do people get approved in just 4 days or even a month or 2 months, i have been wondering how is that possible like the vsc decided to skip all the ones before annd process some of em right away... can anyone explain so i can hope for it with some knowledge...and happy holidays everyone again

Yasser, I was wondering about that, too. But I think some filers qualify to have their visa petition expedited. For example, if delaying the visa will cost a person considerable income, or if there is a medical emergency, a filer can request his or her I-129f to be expedited. But I think it is rare to qualify for that.

Unfortunately, we can only ask for patience! :-/

On that note, I just chatted with my fiancé and our patience is wearing thin so I will be taking a trip to Bogota by March!! Woo hoo!! Hopefully the NOA2 will come shortly after that trip!!
