I have a question? is the money we spent for the K-1 visa application also the same 400$ for the visa fee in manila?

the $455 fee is for the I-129F application and it is different from the visa fee in Manila.. if i'm not mistaken the visa fee in manila amounts to $131 which will be paid after I-129F is approved..

The $131 MUST BE PAID BEFORE THE INTERVIEW. They check your DS forms for the validation of payment. Failure to do this before the interview will result in rescheduling delays.

There is a BDO by the embassy, 4 blocks away, you can pay the day before the interview if you wish.

PM me for any AP or AR relating to the NBI

I know! One COULD get a bit sad that we didn't file with CSC (as there are already December filers approved), but, VSC has definitely picked up the pace. If they can maintain this 12 K1 approvals/day (as on yesterday), then December filers will be approved in no time!

Hello, yes i sent my I-129f out and was accepted by them in Vermont on the 8th of September 08. However I never recieved my letter of receipt that they got it. So I called and they asked me a bunch of questions and just gave me my receipt number. They said they had mailed me a letter stateing that the got it and all, but to this day I still have'nt got it. So I set up to get info pertaining to my case via email, and just got an email on the 24th of Feb. that we have been approved and another letter has been mailed and to follow directions on it. Hopefully I get this letter cause they told me they couldn't send me a copy of the first one??? So do we need the first letter and this letter and how important are they...the letters they send... cause I still don't have even the first one. Now another thing My fiance lives in Egypt and we were under the impression the fee for this was the 455.00 to file the I-129f,and any for the paralegal that helped out in the begining. Now as I'm learning here on the site we could've saved that money but oh well...moving forward. So now after the approval letter comes what follows and how much longer is this process and an idea if you know for cost now if we do ourself from this point. If you can help with this it's great!!! Also we met only once back on april 29th 08,is that good enough for the interview or do we have to meet atleast twice??? Thanks for all your help I'm new here.

Hello Everyone !! I didn't see any thread for Vermont December K-1 Filers, so I'll like to start one so we can keep track of our progress. Anyone out there that have mailed out their I-129F package, waiting for their check to be cashed or NOA1. I would love to hear from you all. :)

Best wishes to all as our journey continues....

Have you all seen this: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...dicator-q-and-a

It's the interview with a former USCIS Adjudicator. It described how they do their work, day-to-day.

One of the most interesting facts from it was that the typical I-129F petition (assuming no RFEs and no match with a person on a bad list) takes 15 minutes to go through and approve. 15 minutes!

I also did some of the math... If each person spends 7 of their 8 hrs/day on petitions, they'd go through 28 petitions/day. Considering the I129F costs $455 to file, that's $12,740 of petitions that each person goes through in a day.

Assuming the average salary of a USCIS adjudicator is $50,000/year (I have no clue about their actual salary, and don't feel like researching it), that comes to about $192/weekday.

So ONE person filling the I129F covers the paycheck of 2+ people per day! But if the work that each person does brings in $12,740, but it costs less than $200 to employ that person, where is the rest of that money going???? Sure, there are office supplies, postage, coffee, water, but even then....

WHY AREN'T THERE ENOUGH PEOPLE WORKING TO SPEED UP THE PROCESSING TIME!

I think it shouldn't take more than a couple of WEEKS to get approved.

Note: Even if I'm only half right with the numbers, there's still a ton of money left for them to hire more people.
