hi nickoftime! how are you today? :D hope you'll have a shiny bright friday.

It's a shiny bright Saturday here, thank God. Despite that, I am scared. Took home preggy tests 3x and they're all negative but I am already delayed for about 2 weeks. I really wanna cry...

Yeah things are really different here in US, i am just thankful that everyday i get to see my family on PI thanks to internet.. it helps me a lot not to get homesick. On my 1st month was harder for me coz my hubby is working on a night shift, and gosh i never experienced staying at home in PI so alone especially at night!!!!!:blush::blush: so when my hubby got back to work after 2 weeks of vacation when i came here i always sleep in living room, i have my bible, flashlight, phone, and a knife hehehhehhe and also the house alarm which i still do every night as soon as my hubby left for work.. sometimes i cant sleep :wacko: so my hubby will chat with me while at work until i fell asleep or i watched shows on laptop... but now i have a puppy as my company when hubby is at work.... its so much much different but have to deal with it for our LOVE. its good thing our hubbies love us sooo much and they do everything to make us happy.. i understand we are not totally happy because we miss family back home, food, etc but things will be better soon :star::star:

That's what my hubby and I say, too...things will get better...

It's a bright Saturday morning also in here. We woke up this morning without the thick ground "multo" (Tule fog). My husband calls it "Multo". Maybe because it has something to do with ghostly apparitions that can be seen in the scary movies in the Philippines.

Yes, things will get better. We are thankful that we are still making it what with the economic problems that the country is facing now. We are indeed lucky to have a very wonderful, caring and loving husband by our side. Somehow it helps us forget about being homesick for a while especially Christmas just around the corner. I will just watch Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel while I wrapped christmas presents. Merry Christmas girls! You all have a blessed Christmas and a happy New Year! -- Marie

My first year here in US is definitely the toughest one. It wasn't about homesickness but it's more of my career transition. After college in philippines I immediately had a job as a preschool teacher for 4 years and after gotten here last june of 2007, I stayed home as a plain housewife for a year while waiting for my gc. I had nights of tears feeling so frustrated and worthless. Me and hubby has a very open communication though but there were days that I just choose to kept my feelings to myself because I don't wanna add up to his stress at work and I know how he's feeling so helpless to see me in that situation. But things started to fall into its places and with God's help, after a month that I received my GC, I had a job as a front desk in a private school and after 2 months they have me transferred into a classroom as an Assistant Teacher, until now. Everyday is a blessings specially now that I'm on my 2 months of pregnancy.:dance::dance:

For those of you who are feeling lost just hang in there and try to be stronger. This is the path of life that we chose to take and Life has so much to offer. Never give up so soon...Winner never quits, Quitter never wins.

Awww....congratulations, sweetpink! I would wanna be preggy, too but with my vulnerability right now, I know I need the time yet. Thank you for sharing what you felt before. I am looking forward to spring semester. I know it will help me a lot to start going to classes and out of the house. I do not want to be trapped feeling secured by not going out.

For all of us who spent all our lives in the Philippines surrounded by our families and loved ones, homesickness will always be part of us here in US. I'm already on my 2-year residency here and believe it or not, the homesickness is not getting any better. But the good thing is, I found some ways to deal with it. The advantage for me is my husband's retired so we're always together and I was never left alone at home. Wherever he goes, I go, because he knows that homesickness will easily engulf me if I will be all by myself. Keeping myself busy truly helps and having a patient and understanding husband is a blessing. He also tells me things to make me feel good about being here and words of comfort so I can get over loneliness.

I wish you all the best in life.

I had the same life as you had in the Philippines but I have no regrets coming here to be with my now husband. He makes my life away from the Philippines perfect just by loving and understanding me.

That's exactly what my OB/GYN said but just the same, have yourself checked. I just did and now waiting for the results.
