The Four Agreements

1. Be Impeccable With Your Word

Speak with integrity. Say only what you mean. Avoid using the word to speak against yourself or to gossip about others. Use the power of your word in the direction of truth and love.

2. Don't Take Anything Personally

Nothing others do is because of you. What others say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won't be the victim of needless suffering.

3. Don't Make Assumptions

Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstandings, sadness and drama. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.

4. Always Do Your Best

Your best is going to change from moment to moment; it will be different when you are healthy as opposed to sick. Under any circumstance, simply do your best, and you will avoid self-judgment, self-abuse and regret.

I have the book and it really helped me a lot when I was depressed and didn't know what to do with my life...it's inspiring and it is really true..

I still have to keep reading it because most of the time I don't apply what I read in this book...I loved the book

We have the Four Agreements as well. Joe has used them for many years as guideposts in his life. Thanks for sharing, Spirit.

It's funny how sometimes I try to tell people about them and I forget one of the four.

It is usually the one i must either be confronted with or it is so ingrained, like breathing, that i need no longer talk about it.

Hahaha.

My favoruite one and one I bring up all the time:

do not take things personally.

I find people in general just do not understand this.

Imagine if anything anyone said just rolled off your back.

Wow!

A person comfortable in their own skin, lives like this.

And so...there is no problem.

Imagine this about a country, instead of just an individual.
