does your passport have a space for bearer's signature? mine is the maroon one, applied for it last 2007. do you think i will have problems in immigration in POE? i think i was one of the very 1st batch of the new passport issued by the DFA that doesnt have the line for the signature.

Hi, I got curious about your posts so I checked my maroon passport and I found out there is no space for bearers signature too. I got mine last June 2008 and its machine readable passport. Looking back when I was applying my passport in DFA-MANILA, I signed in information sheet in front of DFA Personnel and I have their my signature , from what I have understood they will just scan it and attach in our information sheet. If the time we will pass through immigration they will just read our passport since its machine readable and it will show our signature in their database that`s why there is no space for bearer`s signature...I don`t know if I am right, but this is what I have understood ....

I got my passport in DFA DVO, I had it checked too. They said its the new machine readable passport. They just had me check my info if all is correct and didnt say anything about signature. But i can remember signing those forms.

Im already in the US. I went thru immigrations and all that. So im guessing my passports fine.

I remember that the lady at DFA-Davao let me sign on a pad with a cord attached to the computer and instructed me not to have my signature go beyond the lines and I could see it on the monitor.

Maybe the passport holder's signature is embedded already in the new machine readable passport.

im still in the PI. i dont think its advisable to have it replaced because my immigrant visa is stamped in that passport. i didnt noticed it until i saw my grandpa's passport that has a space for the signature and mine doest have any.. i remember signing in a piece of paper only but not on a pad connected to a computer.. i hope they scanned my signature and embedded it in the machine readable passport...iim planning to take my nclex in the US and required to bring a passport with a signature, the only ID i have that has a signature is my PRC ID. do US recognize our local licence as an identification?i pray i will be fine just like ping..

Actually DFA are aware of that mistake they had.. the passport now that they issue is already corrected.. there won't be any problems with that since it was an error made by the DFA ..
