agree, but it was the doctors that made it difficult for her to get the prescription... not the government, unless you want the government forcing the doctors to write prescriptions for their patients no matter what kind of prescription they want?!

Sure. But broad (and I'm not just talking about the Bush Administration) government policy ultimately tells doctors what they can and can't prescribe - even in some cases tells under what conditions a drug may be prescribed.

I guess it comes down to... when do we have too many laws "to protect ourselves", as opposed to not enough? Where is the happy median? Someone, or some group, is always going to be left our, or unfairly treated. As the old adage goes... "you can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time".

I think some of those laws exist solely to please a specific portion of the electorate.

the only thing bush forced me to do..was puke my guts out when he opens his mouth and spits out lies

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Its hard to watch that man on TV without wanting to throw something at the screen. Then again - its hard to listen to Rush as well without getting violently angry. Bet you if someone took his microphone away and put him in a real political debate with people who know what they're talking about, he'd come across pretty poorly. Much of Rush's support comes from ignorant people who trust his opinions rather than finding things out for themselves - he's like a playground bully with a microphone. Like I said - deprive him of his simpering followers and you'd soon see him shut up. He's a coward at the end of the day IMO.

Oh, Burn!

BC pills make the lining of the uterus unable to have an implantation in case an egg gets fertilized. There's no difference with Plan B, in my opinion, then a regular birth control pill.

Ok I had to add my experiance to this. I can't blame her for wanting to blame bush. Or the administrative policies. (will probably get flamed for this, but it's happened to me so...)

Last February my fiance and I were in a similar situation. Not because we couldn't control ourselves and didn't use protection. We did. But our "protection" broke at a PERFECT moment. That morning I called every hospital, clinic, midwife, pharmacist within 50 miles, but living in smalltown nowhere in Idaho, not one of them would do it. All because of religious beliefs. (trust me, they had no qualms about telling me why...in lovely terms I might add). I spent the next week a wreck wondering if I was going to be pregnant. And Alex (my fiance) spent the next week fuming. As has been previously stated, in France you can walk into any pharmacy or clinic and be handed the "morning after" pill like it's an aspirin. And he still has yet to understand why doctors have been given the right to "pick and choose" which patients they help in which ways.

Just my view and experience. Take it for what it's worth lol.

What if she had used birth control and gotten pregnant. She would be in the same bind.

Are people really that irresponsible and stupid that they don't know there's a chance they could get pregnant if they have sex?? NO birth control method is 100% effective except abstinence. I'm so sick of people blaming anyone they can for THEIR problems that THEY created!

I don't necessarily think it is blaming they are doing. It is that they do not want to accept the consequences of their actions. Like you put it, they know they are having sex. Sex makes babies. Use protection and it helps, but you still can get preggers. :o I always works out in the end

Well now thats not really all that effective of an argument IMHO. Not when those very same doctors feel that using birth control, sure 2 forms at once, while taking medications such as Accutane or Thalidomide is acceptable. Accutane and Thalidomide both can cause horrendous birth defects, and prior to a female using either drug they must be tested for pregnancy, then additionally during the course of treatment.

That would also be a very viable reason for needing something like Plan B, because say if you were taking the pill and using a condom at the time and the condom broke, you'd be left with only one form which at least on Accutane they do not feel is enough, and something would need to be done quickly.

Actually, I don't know. Maybe they do. But still, in the end whether you're conceiving naturally or having IVF or IUI, it's still up to God whether or not that embryo is going to develop into a fetus or be miscarried.
