Welcome Nikki!

Read the guides at the top of the page, they are great and give you step by step what you need to include - Plus other questions here - personally, I wouldn't use a lawyer, you can do it yourself -

Where is your SO from?

Welcome Nicky;

You do not need a lawyer (unless) you have a complicated case. Stick around, read the guides and we'll help you along the way. I did everything I was told to do and all the advice came from here and my husband is here now...so take it easy and start gathering your documents.

********************************************************************************

....when it hurts to look back and you're scared to look ahead LOOK beside you and I'll be there.....

There comes a point in your life when you realize who matters, who never did, who won't anymore... and who always will.

So, don't worry about people from your past, there's a reason why they didn't make it to your future.

Welcome Nikki -

Please don't waste you hard earned money on a lawyer. You have found the perfect place to start. You should also stop by this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...&start=4470

It's been noted that the process changes slightly. This site will keep you abreast.

I wish you the best in the process. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to private message me or post a question.

Nikki,

I agree with the other VJ Yardie members. Please don't waste your time or money. There are tons of us that have been through the process. Feel free to post any questions. Believe me- there is no dumb question. Be sure to start gathering all pertinent documents. Make sure that your SO has a current Jamaican birth certificate (blue one). Keep all phone records, plane ticket receipts, boarding passes, pictures, e-mails, letters, and other items that proof that this a real real relationship. I wish you all the best on your journey.

Take care,

Kelia AKA Mrs. Scott

Thanks for the welcome !! I was really going to consider the lawyer but i think i'm gonna just do it myself to save money..Thanks for everyone's input so far..I've read the guides and it just seems like soo much to do..but i guess getting started is the hardest part. I'm hoping to start in January. If i need help or questions about anything i will defiently let everyone know ..my SO is from Morant Bay , St. Thomas. We met back in April on my first trip there and i recently visisted him and my family in Nov. Well i have everything from the first time i went as far as letters, phone bills, flight iteneries-confirmations, passport stamps, and pictures. So i'm not worried about that part..the only thing i'm really concerned with is the 134-form ..I'm a full time student and i know i'm not gonna be able to sponsor him..and both of my parents don't work sooo..their might be some issues where that is concerned..can anyone suggest anything ?? Thanks..

Do you have anyone else in mind that is willing to fill out the I-134? I haven't found any information where it states that the sponsor has to be related to the petition. Yardies...help me out if I'm wrong on this.

Welcome HeavenSent, VJ is like a second family for support and encouragement throughout the whole immigration process. Its also nice to have someone who is in Florida, I am in Orlando

I dont think you have to be related to the sponsor but since you are in school, you will definatly need to find someone you trust who had a good steady income and is willing to give you all their financial information.

Hey HeavenSent! Welcome. Sorry I don't know about the sponsorship but you can search the site by key words. Good luck

Wakey

Intimacy, like charity, begins at home. If we cannot be intimate with ourselves, we have no way to bring to intimacy with another person.

Intimacy with ourselves takes time. We need time for rest, time for walks, time for quiet, and time to tune into to ourselves. We cannot completely fill up our lives with activities and become intimate with ourselves. Nor can we just sit quietly indefinitely and become intimate with ourselves. We have to have the time and energy to be our lives and to do our live in order to establish and intimate relationship with ourselves.

Surprisingly, as we become intimate with ourselves, we discover our connection with others

Welcome to VJ. Visit the yardie thread and post all your questions there. The ladies on there have been through or are going through the process and can guide you along the way. As for the I-134, what you need is a co-sponsor. Seeing that you are the petitioner, you still have to fill out one form and your co-sponsor fill out the other. The co-sponsor does not have to be related to you nor even live in the same state with you.

Again, welcome and good luck along the way.
