Just wondering if anyone has asked for a Extension from the Embassy. My fiancee's BC has a typo and needs to be changed, We won't get it done before her interview this month(long story) Been trying to get ahold of the US Embassy in Manila but no answer at the immigrant Ext. Just curious if anyone has tried it. If we can't get a extension, we will have to file all over again!:help:

If you can't get through on the phone, I would recommend sending a fax with your request. When I requested an expedited interview I sent the request to the immigrant visa section's fax number and they acted on it within 1 day.

I suppose you could ask for an email response in the faxed letter. I called to get their response the following day. The important thing is to get it to their attention in time to made the change. I think you'll find that they will have already moved your appointment date by the time you get through. Try calling just after 7:30 a.m. Manila time ... I always got through at that time within a couple of tries.

Yes - we have requested an extension. I emailed the embassy (in London for us) and they wrote back the following:

For your information, the visa petition approval is only valid for four months. It is also unlikely that Mr. R. will have obtained an interview in this time. However, his application will NOT be cancelled on this date, it will remain valid providing that he furnishes a sworn affidavit from you, the petitioner, confirming that you will be married within 90 days of arriving in the United States. Mr. R. will not have to resubmit a new application.

Thank you for your e-mail correspondence.

The problem is that Manila never has the interview within 4 months. They have had our case since Sept 2005. Our interview would have been feb 27th. But we have a problem with her BC that if we tried to go thru with the interview we would be denied(at least until we could get the BC corrected). Not sure a 4 month extension now would be enough time for BC typo change tho :(. Thanks for the response, i think i will try to call again tonight and then if i can't get thru try to fax them.

IMHO, you should have the interview anyways and get the 221g denial for missing documents. Then you really have a year from the 221g denial to supply the documents.

Well, i just got off the phone with the Embassy. FYI you can Fax, send a letter or E-mail asking for a postponement. So it's a great relief to us. In case anyone else gets in this situation. B)

Thanks for the info scy, but this way we can just wait to pay for the medical and only one flight to Manila. It saves me about $200-$300.
