Yesterday, I called to see if they had any further information and to express my discontentment about this whole hold up situation. She had very little knowledge at the time. However, she did some investigating and called me back this morning. She told me to forget about K-3 and that the I-129f's aren't going anywhere anytime soon. She flat out told me not to waste anymore time or effort stressing over it.

I know this isn't the best of news. I just wanna go home, get back in bed and cry. I know that the CR1 is a better option. It's just that I was really hoping my husband and I would be on the same continent for our anniversary in September. Don't shoot the messenger.

Well, I also expect that K-3 will take much longer than I had anticipated when I filed for it. Just waste of $170.00 to bring the loved one sooner while CR-1 process goes on.

But we have to take positives from the situations. At least, our I-130 is approved. I also know your I-130 is approved as well. I will concentrate how efficiently I can process the NVC paperwork. Good Luck to you!

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Did she say anything else? How did she get that answer? I mean, why is that?

That was the strange thing. She said that she couldn't give me the inside scoop. It's probably the same old information that we already know.

Simple, you are right. I should be focusing on the positives. At least I know what I have to do now.

I agree. You were given the same information that we already assumed. I feel for all K-1s who got caught in the middle of this bureaucracy. But please hang in there.

I just think what your Congresswoman heard is that they are waiting for furthet instructions and can´t give a timeline yet.

I doubt they told her something like "we made a mess so we´ll take as long as needed to restart procesing cases".

She was an immigration specialist working for my Congressman. Her answers were a bit vague. But, at least she took the time to call me back. I just thought I would pass along what I learned. I really feel for everyone caught up in all of this.

IMBRA (International Marriage Brokers Regulation Act) which affects all K visa petitions (K-1 & K-3). In other words, all those filing I-129F for a fiance or spouse on or after 6 March. For further reading see the K-1 forum.

Depending on whether or not you use James Shortcuts and how fast or slow the exchange of bills & forms is through NVC,....and on how long it takes to be scheduled an interview..... Do your homework....read up on James Shortcuts and if you look at the Waiting for NVC & Interview thread you will see the lower days to complete at NVC range between 49 days & 80's. Ours took 126 but we also procrastinated. You may not be together for your anniversary but it wont be too far off. I know thats no consolation.....we were apart too :( It is the biggie though as you know and no paperwork to do for nearly 2 years on entry. Bonus
