Hi all, i just wanted to pop in and let you all know i made it thru my operation to have my gallbladder out. i am super sore!

i got to the hospital at 8am, got taken back to a preop room and got all that stuff going. I was supposed to go in at 1025am, but didnt end up making it back to he or til nearly 11am. I dont remember them taking me from my room to the or tho, and i dont remember anything until i woke up in pain at 1210am cying in the recovery room. I was in recovery til 115pm, got back to my short stay room at 125ish, and laid there fighting sleep cause i was having trouble breathing. i drank a lot of ice water because my throat hurt so bad and i couldnt stop coughing and coughing was making me miserable.

they sent me home at 3pm. isnt that nuts??? i had to keep fluids down-which i started getting in the recovery room, and had to get up and walk to the bathroom and urinate, then they took my iv out and i got dresed and wheeled out to the van. really i am sore but trying to take my pain meds to keep up with it.

anyway i just wanted to let you all know my gallbladder is out and hopefully ill be back to my old self in a few days or a week. i have to take care of josh all alone til 3pm tomorrow. no one is free. i will figure it out and if it gets too bad ill have my mom come home from work early.

ill be around when i can!

Poor Jess

I hope you feel better. I feel for you. I remember when mine was taken out - everything you said I went through, but I didnt get any good meds becuase I was pregnant with my daughter at the time. So my pain med was Tylenol.... Not that good after surgery.

Hope you feel better soon!

I had mine out in March 2007. I really tried to move around a lot and that seemed to help. I was going up and down the stairs to our condo by the second day. I found it quite amazing that you can go in for surgery at 8 am to have an organ removed and be on your way home by 12 pm. I had the option of staying overnight, but home was so much better. Unfortunately, I had a reaction to the narcotics and just dealt with the pain the second day with tylenol and didn't need anything by day three. I think the staples they put to close my small incision holes bothered me more than the actual surgery itself (I am sensitive to about everything). I had the surgery on a Thursday and was back to work on Monday.

Just watch your diet for a while. It took time for my system to adjust. The surgeon never told me this. My uncle did though. He had his out about ten years ago and told me it would take about a year for my digestive system to feel totally back to normal. I agree with him. Even now though, I still have problems with tomatoes.

Aww Jess just be careful and try and not do too much. I know its easy to say but seriously I had major comps from a c-section and not listening to everybody telling me to take it easy. Take rest when the baby rests. I hope you feel better soon.

so far i havent had problems with eating foods, i havent had any tummy issues, just the pain and pulling driving me nuts. i am closed with only glue, no stitches on the outside. i just had a burning on the right side of my belly button, and there is no incision there so its very weird that i hurt there. Im so thankful Josh is a good baby!

tomorrow josh has to go to the drs for his late 6mth well baby and some shots. then i think thats it for his shots til he is 1.
