Over the last day and half the posts on Gary C. "lets gather some information" have been downright mean. I have been reading posts on VJ since March. I have always enjoyed the information and feeling of support that I fee here. I really would like to be able to read updates about IMBRA but do not want to have read through personal attacks, people feelings about how other people choose to immigrant to the US and who is suffering the most, and political agendas. It is not okay to feel that you better then someone else because you think the choices you make are the only correct choices.

In short what can be done to improve this? Does someone send the posters who have gone overboard a warning? I did not want to post this in the IMBRA thread because it is annoying to go into a thread and read non realted content.

Thanks

If you feel that a thread is in violation of the TOS (Terms of Service we all agreed to when we signed up), on the post you are upset about there is a "report" button you can click to explain it to the moderators. They'll have a look and either issue a thread warning, close the offending thread, and/or ban people.

edit: Or they may decide that there's nothing particularly wrong with it. ;) It's happened in Off Topic that way a few times. As the thread you mention is in the K1 forum, they may be a bit more stringent about it.

hi I believe this forum was created for technical issues... not people having issues with eachother.

Actually it's not just for technical issues, it's for anything that might improve the site. :) In the past there have been a few discussions about morale and how to treat people in this forum.

edit: for grammar, because I'm a grammar nazi. :D

If some were a little more tolerant of other people's feelings and the amount of stress we're all under, this wouldn't be a topic of conversation. Everyone has good days and bad days. We are all human after all. Some choose to vent their feelings on this site, others are more reserved and are content to observe... what makes this site so valuable is that we ARE a community.. a sub-culture of our own. No one knows what we're going through with our respective processes any better than our site membership. I, for one, wouldn't trade the collective knowledge, support, and yes, even flaming, that I have found here, for anything.

To the OP.... there have been others who have said it much better than I am about to, but no one can control the direction of a thread on a public forum once someone has started a topic. Each and every person is entitled to express themselves under the TOS of this site. Someone who feels that they have been 'violated' has every right to bring it to the attention of the administrators.

Threads get hijacked... some get back on course, others die a slow death. You can choose to participate or not, but it simply is a matter of choice.

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I would really hate to see this thread die or get nuked. But this IMBRA thing really has people on edge. I hope that soon we will have some solid facts to go on and can get back on track. I do implore people to restrain themselves when others have views that are different from your own.

Lets get this thread back to what I originally wanted. A place to trade information and leave the personalities to the off topic forum.
